In celebration of my big sale I purchased a new camera. It is a Canon EOS Rebel T3i. I <3 it and am quite intimidated by the potential. I also purchased a refurbished Canon 10 - 22mm lens from Adorama.com. Going to try it out today and will post pics. I'm like a pig in mud with it.

In addition to the camera and ultra wide lens, I went all out and purchased an external flash (Canon Speedlite 430XL) as well as a bracket so I can mount the flash off the camera. Still thinking old school and wanting to be ready to go when everything arrived, I purchased a sync cable for the thing and then come to find out, my camera will trigger the flash remotely without a cable! How freaking cool is that?

Sounds nice but probably more camera than most folks need. Too heavy and too much to lug around for me.

Ok, I'll send it all back and get a $69 point and shoot instead.

Hey enjoy it, especially if you're into it. I like stuff too and have my share of unecessary golf related items.
There's a lot of cameras available between the $69 P&S and the one you have. I even have several but my favorite is my Panasonic DMC-FZ28. It does everything 99% of the population needs, has a 18x optical zoom plus wide angle (all built in), weighs next to nothing, isn't too big, and cost me just over $240 a few years back when I got it. Plus it has multiple top rated reviews so others must like it too.
I love Canon stuff by the way. I have a couple cameras, color scanner, printers, all have been good. When my one Canon P&S started acting up Canon customer service was the best I have ever experienced.
Good luck with your new camera!

For the kind of pictures I take I need the ultra wide (10mm) lens. For that I needed a DSLR w/ the ability to change lenses. My camera is not just a tool for selling homes, it is a part of my very being.

I remember the old days of photography, when we used a huge view camera, sheet film, and a reflector/flash bulb that went "POP". those were the good old days.

Don't you find the 10mm shots distort the images to much. I find anything less than 28mm looks odd. I usually try and back up and segment the shots rather than get a fish bowl looking room.

28mm is nowhere near wide enough to get enough of the room. Sometimes I use 14-15mm instead of 10mm, depending on the room. My kit lens is 18-55mm and it's not wide enough for me for doing rooms.

I have software (Paint Shop Pro; which is like Photo Shop) that I use to straighten up the lines if they get out of whack.

You don't have to read all my rambling but you can see the pictures...they speak for themselves... here is stark evidence in this blog - the difference between 10mm and 28/29mm.

Please note - 28mm DIGITAL is very different than 28mm for 35mm cameras...I had a hard time wrapping my brain around that, lol...28mm digital is similar to 50mm for a 35mm camera due to the size of the sensors.

I'm impressed with the photos. The lines are straight.

I have a how to sell brochure where I show bad mls shots. They are really easy to find. My fav is the hottub that is on an angle but the water stays in it like magic.

I had thought 28mm was 28mm did not know there was a difference between 35mm camera and digital. Thanks for this tidbit of info.

I have been toying with getting a gopro they are around 8mm or so but have incredible resolution for such tiny cameras. I have not seen how they would shoot in a house with low light. Just another one for my growing collection of cameras.

On one tec radio show I listen to they were talking about photo shop elements. It is ranked as one of the better prosumer photo edit products.

Just gone through learning how to master Sony Vega for video great program. One would think they would have a tie in photo editor.

I found my old EOS 28mm lens for my 35mm camera a while back. I had sold the camera and zoom lens at a yard sale, but kept the 28mm lens for some reason. When I used it on my 35mm, it was definitely "wide angle."

I was so excited when I found out my old lenses would work on my new camera...only to find out it wasn't what I thought, lol. I thought I could get out of paying hundreds of dollars for a wide angle lens...but it was not to be...So I sold my old lens on eBay believe it or not...got about $50 for for it which surprised me.

I use Paint Shop Pro as I was given Version 7 many moons ago as a gift, and found it to be exciting and fun and just as good (for my purposes) as the much more expensive Photoshop (Elements was not around yet I don't think.) I stuck with PSP thru its upgrades and am now using PSPX. I have thought about exploring PS Elements but thought...why? I don't need to learn something ELSE when PSP does what I need, lol
