I virtually have no emails from anyone this morning.

Banks are closed today. I guess corporate America feels cheated when a major holiday falls on a weekend and is entitled to an additional day off because of it. Then people wonder why we owe China so much? I guess our laziness has nothing to do with that.

Sorry for the minor sarcasm, it's just that to me a holiday is just that. Stretching that out I feel is counterproductive.

I got 2 orders from FARVV this morning.

Being self employed also, today being a holiday was news to me as well when my wife told me, I pretty much spouted off to her exactly what you summed up. Not sure why she got the brunt of it, but....

On the flip side, being self-employed, you can take a holiday, or a few, when you need/want to. I am taking this week off from BPOs, but will be out showing houses after noon tomorrow. And I did work on rental business today. "Work" is also how you define it, when you're self-employed.

And Dave, I hope you apologized to your wife. lol.

I have pretty much shut my BPO business down until the first week of next month. At first, I started having BPO withdrawals, but have learned to deal with it. I have an REO I need to deal with tomorrow and that should be it until 2012. Actually, it feels pretty darn good. Considering all the hours I put in this year, I think I deserve this time off.

I agree Barb. When one is self-employed they can truly dictate how they run their business. If they want to take day off or an entire month, they have that option.

My comment was aimed at corporate America as well as government jobs that feel entitled to additional days off outside the actual holiday. I find such a policy to be counterproductive and quite frankly one of laziness. Perhaps that's the borderline workaholic in me, as I personally feel that making money is an obligation we all have to support one's family as well as to secure our future in our old age.

I realize not everyone feels like I do. I also realize that money isn't everything; except to the person who doesn't have any.

I received an email response to an inquiry I made to Ofori several days ago - it was emailed 12/25/11 at 11:51 p.m. so I felt good SOMEONE was working Christmas Day, although I did take a call at 5:45 p.m. Christmas Eve.

I've been trying to clear out unnecessary emails and cleaning up files. Have a long way to go to clean the office file stuff yet. Today wasn't as fun as I thought it would be nor as productive home-wise or work-wise; although, I also took calls from several buyers' agents.

Americans are spoiled; but, I don't think I've ever met someone on their death bed who said they wished they'd worked more overtime.

I, too, have thought of taking this week off; but, I'll work at least in the mornings because business does go on....

Pemco is working this week, so I am keeping up with my WOs from them . . . Buyers haven't decided "when" they want to look this week, so have to be patient there. Rental projects are going along great! . . . And I gave away some things on freecycle to keep from filling up my storeroom. That's a good deal any day! LOL

Shoot - Tried that, "I'll only work until noon" and picked up an assignment, numerous telephone calls, and having to work IN THE RAIN yesterday!

Today went a little better trying not to work after 12 noon but filing papers are scattered all over the place...and I STILL have to answer phone calls...but I did finally track down the HOA for a property!

Trying again tomorrow....

I shut off the BPO pipeline on the 16th and left for Europe on the 19th. Got back last evening.
While I was away, got a new listing, placed a property under contract, did an updated BPO and submitted six or seven offers on REO properties. Electronic communication is great.

It certainly is. I am taking today, Sunday and Monday off - except for the phone calls that come in b/c someone's gotta answer it. Although, I am going to try to get that danged filing done and also TRY to work out a plan for this year - although that should have been done THIS month...nothing like a well-laid out plan in advance...now, if only I would do such a thing!

worked until 1 yesterday, got more to do today, already have an int for tomorrow. It's miserable, but I have bills to pay and the past 2 years have taught me to be thankful for the opportunity to be in the black!

I submitted a report this morning...one time... I heard you will do what ever you do on the first day of the year...for the rest of the year...we will see!

Well, ditty, if you're right, that's not so bad! I showed houses today . . . and looked at some investment property for myself, and worked on my plan for getting from here to there. Also worked on my own house - I've said 2012 is the year we remodel it, so maybe off to a good start.

Call it deja vu or reminiscent of the movie "Groundhog Day".

I pretty much have no days off, with my 2 kids and wife, household, let's forget being a realtor. I think one day I will.

Amen to that, in fact, getting out into the field is my time off, lol.
