Hey Guys! I figured i would ask everyone this since I have been picking on Perky lately and bugging her with PMs. I understand that blogging is a good way to move up on the search engines and have been told that 1 to 2 blogs per week is a good rate. Is it logical to wonder if 1 blog per day would be even better / faster?

I think that would be overkill, plus you'd be setting a bar that you will not be able to keep up with at a later date. Slow and steady, with excellent content is better than a "fling it all at the wall and see what sticks" experiment. smile

Haha, I try to give you a break... That sounds like good advice though. I'll probably try to stick to 2 per week... I feel good about the 2 that I have written so far ;)

What about if somebody were to have a spot on their site about real estate related news in their area where anytime there is a big story about the market that they come across they post a summary on their site and tag it with appropriate key words. This would be different than a blog, but would it help with SEO?

Do you mean write a blog post about it? Not sure what you mean.

If you can keep your site updated fairly regularly with new information, keeping it from becoming "static" that will certainly help you in the long run with search engines but can be challenging, especially when you get busy which you eventually will if you are actively working...which is why many people are making their entire site a blog format...it's easier to update a blog than a regular HTML page.

Yeah, I would probably put it in my blog section but maybe under a heading that says something like "RE News"... was just thinking of ways I could get new content on my site without having to think of it all myself

Are you saying you would copy/paste news stories about your area? I'm assuming you would credit the original source as well. Either way, that's not unique content, the purpose of a blog is to post updated, timely, UNIQUE content from YOUR perspective (not merely copying what was already written elsewhere).

The idea of posting a summary on your site is not a bad idea as long as you also include your personal views on the topic to personalize it or summarize it in your own words.

SEO-wise it would not perform as well as if you did the same thing within a good blog. That is because each time you make a post on a blog it actually becomes its own separate page which means it becomes highly targeted for just those keywords. That all can happen automatically with a blog.

One strategy that is working well for me is writing posts ahead of time and scheduling them to be posted at a later date. I use Wordpress and it lets me select the day and time I want the post published. I create my posts on Saturdays and have them published throughout the week. It's easier for me to take time once a week instead of stopping several days a week to write, which I know I can't keep up.

Agree with Perky , that you will not be able to keep up. One should be able to dedicate some time for blog articles.

Erica, this would probably help your SEO efforts and it's not very time-consuming. The frequency you post articles on your blog will influence the frequency a search engine spider will crawl your website. Even more, you could attract potential customers to your website, since I assume you'll cover news in your industry. Just make sure to rewrite the article and not copy-paste entire paragraphs. I don't think it's mandatory to add a personal view to every story you're summarizing.

1-Blog on the most popular sites first.

2-Dont cut and paste that same blog information everywhere otherwise step 1 is useless everything must be original.

3-Blog multiple times on the most popular sites but be sure to blog on different sites. Inboung links from a single site only count to search engines once so blogging multiple times on not so popular blogs is a waster.

4-Blog on your own site instead of everyone elses all the time. Those blogging sites get traffic because of the information you posted on thier site so you should be blogging on your own site as well.

Blog what you can and whenever its going to take time anyhow.

Original content is king. If you don't like to write think about doing podcast and putting them into blog post. Make sure you add a description of each podcast. They are so easy to make and with a wordpress site you can get a free audio player that will play mp3 files.

I would honestly say to stick to one to two posts per week. It will get your credibility up for you company. If you want to bump up your number of blogs later on though, that would be fine.
