There is this persistent attitude around that Real estate agents usually drive Lexus,BMW, and Mercedes cars.
Do you people drive those?
Does that have an impact among your clients?
Should i try to get a good car like the above if I become an agent?

There are multiple threads actively talking about this subject. Using words like "cars" or "auto", just use the search function to the right - - ->> Here are a few threads which might be missed: Realtor Image Let's see what everyone is driving

It's your life, get whatever you like. If you like the mini-Cooper, get one of those. If you like the Chevy Suburban, get one of those. Personally, I've never been a taxi service for showing property. I think adults should be responsible for their own transportation.

I got my real estate license and went out and bought a new car to drive around all my clients. Now my wife drives it 90% of the time. It was a mistake, wish I could take it back. I hate car payments and have had VERY FEW clients in it in the last 1&1/2. Not to mention I havent really made any money in RE either.

I had thought that if you bought a "new" car, Customers would be calling you up just to go for a ride and be shown some houses. Sometimes, you'd look out in the parking lot and they'd already be in your car ready to go . . . . and the further out the better !

Perhaps I am inferring, but at least his better half is happy. Now my wife drives it 90% of the time. Ram there are a bunch of terrific threads here on deriving and generating business. I'd say it would be a fine use of one entire work week to read through many or all of them. If I were a new agent and had this tome of information available to me and chose to ignore it all, then I would never be able to forgive myself. You will find something that fits your schedule and personality. Then you can implement the new found strategies into your business model and work towrds a few more commissions.

Should i try to get a good car like the above if I become an agent? If I can make a suggestion, get something that you can easily afford. I am sure that you know that image is very important in this business as you want to look successful, but the words coming out of your mouth are much more important than the car you drive. Most clients are more focused on that than the car you drive. On the other hand it is still suggested to at least have a car that is clean and nice looking. I have been really into cars since I was a kid and if you are looking for a luxury car I would stay away from German cars (some reliability issues with certain brands). I would suggest looking for a 2-3 year old Japanese Luxury car like Lexus, Infiniti or Acura that fits your pocketbook. (G37, M35/M45, IS250/350, GS350, LS400/LS460, TL, RL). Others will disagree for their reasons and that's fine... If/when you start making $150k or more a year go get that nice Mercedes Benz, Audi or BMW you want; hopefully at that point you won't care about the added $$$$ to keep it running...

I personally think the car you drive is a reflection on your personalty and your success.
Think about it, if you were to hire a real estate agent, would choose one that drives a BMW or a beat rust bucket?
I think the general public may view the agent with the rust bucket as a bad agent that can't sell properties. Versus, the agent that drives the BMW, that many view as a real deal closer.
I am not saying it is true, but from a psychological view point.

I know that their is a wide range of cars between a BMW and a rust bucket. Personally I wouldn't want to be driving either extreme, I want to drive something that is in good shape but not super luxery. I'd look at something mid range than most of your clients could have reasonably expect to own if they want to. I went with a Ford SUV, need that trunk space for your "for sale" sign.

It also depends on the area. Here in Oregon, driving a fancy car is overkill. I drive a Subaru and fit in just fine.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
