Hi Lucy,
I am also a Realtor and also have and Life and Health License. I work with my wife and Broker in Real Estate, and sell life and health insurance. I have found that the Health policies with CAR are good products, but tend to be pricey. You can find rates on their website. There are other good products that you can find online also. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need further assistance with this.

I am in Missouri and we have a $10,000.00 deductible for the entire family (5 of us) and we pay $417.00 per month. This is cheaper than we could get a policy which was "endorsed" by the Missouri Association Of Realtors.

Hubby and I get ours thru his office. We were doing the high deductible ($1,000 each per year) to keep our monthly rates low. I got sick 2 yrs ago and could have used a cheaper method b/c my prescrips were more costly, but who could have known the future?

I want to say we were paying about $100/month but it is almost DOUBLE this open enrollment time. To do the $500 deductible was just a little cheaper monthly, but, I figured it out and it was STILL a little cheaper to do the higher deductible, but only by a few bucks if we used the whole deductible.

I think the medical profession is a rip-off. A hospital in my area is slowly taking over EVERYTHING. How can one have open market and antitrust? I think it's a real scam.

I am on LI and the rates are very high here. I created an LTD and was able to get a corporate rate which saved a little money.

People always want the most expensive, cutting-edge diagnostics...but then don't want to pay for them. And if a doctor recommends a less costly treatment, he or she is pretty much inviting a malpractice suit.

We have the "creeping mega-hospital" effect here, too...but mostly because the smaller facilities the big boys are replacing have basically gone bankrupt. I used to work in health care. I know what it really costs to install and maintain a MRI or a PET scanner. Most hospitals aren't exactly raking in the money.

I don't need cutting edge when half of what they do with these machines causes side effects that one would be better off starting the old-fashioned way.

Cutting edge bull - they need to make their payments on the machines and the only way to do that is to TELL you that you need it.

With the hospital further expanding out, you don't think these doctors, under the hospital's watchful eye, aren't going to recommend machine X, Y, and Z to save their jobs?

It ain't about the cure rate, it's about the monthly payments the medical profession needs to make.
