Hello!

My GF and I want to get our licenses - both for general sales and personal investments.

First Question:

Is it true that we have to both provide some type of transcripts when taking the test showing we went over the material? What if we studied via books, etc..? Not acceptable? -- We were intending to buy an online program together, but this would require us Both individually to purchase it correct?

2nd Q:

For our scenario, any recommendations in regards to some combination of the quickest, cheapest, most effective way to both get our CA Licenses?

Thanks In Advance! :woot:

Richard.

correct, you EACH need to provide evidence of completing the approved courses required by the DRE. you submit the evidence with your application, before taking the exam.

the process is fairly simple. just go to the DRE website, and follow the instructions for licensure. your main decision will be the source of the courses. you complete them, submit your application, and schedule the exam.

As thought - although a pinch discouraging. Thank you for the response Shanna.

Welcome to hear any others recommendations as far as courses too.

"Discouraging?" Really? Having to prove that you've actually completed the state-mandated course requirements is discouraging? Nah. Just wait til you discover that all the stuff you studied for in order to pass the test has done little to prepare you for the day-to-day, real-world, real estate business. THAT will be discouraging. eek

Yes--your state-approved course provider (whether in person or online) will provide you with certificates of completion as well as a transcript. Yep, that requires each of you to pay for the course work and actually pass tests to prove you read the material. Last I heard, nobody was offering 2-for-1 specials; despite the slowly dwindling number of licensees, the exam rooms are still packed with applicants--half of whom, according to the DRE, will fail their exams (which, considering that the test isn't that difficult, is actually rather frightening). If you luck out, though, you might get a bit of a referral discount through certain online course providers..
