That x-mas tree puts mine to a shame :(. So, who putting it up is one thing, who is going to take it down? The worst part of post Christmas. :)

That's a very generous gift to all the people that pass your home. During these dark winter days I find exhibits like yours always lift my spirits. I have to admit that for a split second I did wonder if your home might be on fire.(Just kidding)

My oldest son (19) does all of the outside lights with the exception of the roof or anything high up, He does take the lights down too but this is his first year of college so they might stay up till he comes home on spring break.

Just make sure you referr to your exibit as "Holiday" lights and not "Christmas" lights. Even though we are a christian based society the media is always reminding us not to say "Merry Christmas" to our fellow man. Has to be Happy Holidays. When people say Happy Holidays I go mental and ask them what holiday are we celebrating?
I guess this is the be ginning of the end of Christmas, in Europe it is still legal to say Merry Christmas to your friends.
Another weird/poisonous inovation eminating out of America.

Another weird/poisonous inovation eminating out of America. We also have Christmas Lights that go through a metamorphosis and become Easter Lights. I used to have neighbors that owned them and eventually the lights even turned into Halloween Lights, just think how dangerous that became.

Your house is beautiful, Summers!
Yes, pikes peak, we have a sit-down restaurant in town that leaves its lit tree up all year. They change the decorations to fit the holiday - Valentine's, Easter, spring/summer flowers, July 4th, back to flowers, autumn leaves & ribbons in fall colors, Halloween, Christmas . . .
We used to decorate & string lights in, on & around everything that didn't move - to include the dog house in the front yard and the pair of gargoyles above the garage doors. We don't do so much of that any more . . .

Forgot to ask,
Why are you feeding the squirels in your area radioactive walnuts?, that is not a nice thing to do, for sure they are going to die. Maybe you thought the radioactive heat would keep their tummys warm in the winter. This is not in keeping with the Christmas spirit that we know of in Canada.

My wife wants us to put lights and a tree up but I just don't see the point. If it's just xmas between the two of you, why do you need a tree? It's just necessary when you have kids.

Santa is welcome at my house anytime but I can't say the same for squirrels though. I live in a subdivision where I can't shoot any critters and the deer, turkey, and squirrels have taken over. I took this video from inside our house Eagle Video

well, the "media" doesn't make the laws, and in fact we don't have to agree with the laws. call it whatever you want to call it. we still have the Constitution.

Summers,
The target here is me and not yourself.
I have been fairly outspoken when it comes to America and I'll explain why. I grew up mesmorized by everything American. My parents always sent their children to Europe for a holiday after they had completed their schooling as a gift. In my case I refused to go to Europe and used my time and money to travel through America. I had the time of my life and returned on a regular basis for the next 15 years. The American people I met were always a delight to meet and spend time with. The topography is as diverse as the people withing America. My life long love affair with the states came to a abrupt end due to 9/11.
When 9/11 happened and I started to read a lot and the more I read the more angry I got. It appeared to me that the government was not taking care of their people but helping special lobby groups. This made me angry as you all know from my posts on this forum. Either way I dont have any issues with the American public but with the people that control them, I think the situation is sad and unjust.
So I apologise to our American neighbor for my inapropriate comments.
My mother was a powerhouse agent in the city of Toronto and she told me to knock on doors for 3 hours a day as a new agent. I did what she said for over 7 years. When I shared this info on this forum I was attacked by a lot of people, this response had a effect on me and you can probably feel it in my posts.(keep in mind all the sales training I have received was purchased from Mike Ferry and Tom Hopkins who are Americans and they confirmed with what my mother told me to do)
I guess shooting the Breeze means different things in different countries.
Summers, I'm sorry for messing up your colourful and fun seasonal thread.

Hunter, I had zero problems with your comments in this thread and it was my hopes that merging discussion from "Christmas Lights" and "firearms" would ease some of the tension that seems to be in the political threads.
I must have missed something that a mod deleted 'cause everything is cool with us in this thread as far as I am concerned.
Now if you start slamming the good old USA again....we might have to open the discussion again (in another new "TOPIC") of course....there is good and eveil in all walks of life and you just need to be careful where you step.

Roger that, my previous post just expressed surprise that your thoughful thread had been chain sawed by Maui. I got my numbers wrong in my PM to you, the family I rent a cabin from use 338 Win Mag and not 300 Win Mag for moose. This is a special time of the year and I'm sure with your attitude you will have a blast.

Maui or Perky,
Could you please remove me from this forum or tell me what I need to do to get of it. I've searched around and I cant find a way to do it.
If somebody else knows how to do it I would appreciate the help.
Thanks.

Insipred by Ditty and past member...here goes. Our manger scene turned out great. My son and I built the manger from storm debris from hurricane Irene. It's meant to be seen this way, but you can see the flash version to understand how I did Joseph, Mary and Jesus. Deck the halls at Casa de Bpose. Jesus learned to stand a little quickly and Mary resembles ET a little, but this was my first go ever with my jigsaw, using scrap plywood for Mary and Joseph and an old 1 x 8 shelf for Jesus. I was pleased with the results. Backlighting is 2 strands of old icicle lights.

Your manger scene is great, Doin'! Here's our "watch bear" . . . found last year in some items from an REO that were destined to go to the dump. All he needed was to have some lights reconnected & he worked fine. He stands in our front courtyard, waving his head back & forth, watching what goes on all night, lol. I'm looking for a couple of lighted penguins now, to keep him company.

Thanks ladies! It sits at the top of a T intersection so we get a good bit of exposure. So far the response has been positive.
Rocking bear by the way. I love rescuing things from the jaws of the landfill like that.
I have never seen one before, but it is totally cool.

Resourceful is the preferred term ...I am thinking they could use a good stain and weather seal.

Gosh, when you put it that way VA you are spot on. Why cover it with a 'stain'. I sanded them down to expose the grains more. They were older pieces of scrapwood with alot of marks and scuffs.

They were older pieces of scrapwood with alot of marks and scuffs. That makes it all the more true to the original. He wasn't born in posh surroundings, he was born among smelly, stinky animals...I find that interesting. The King of Kings, choosing the utmost in humble surroundings to make His entrance into the world. The first ones to know of His arrival were the lowly shepherds, the bottom of society's rung... Your simple, humble scene is beautiful.

Nice Ditty. We have a number of teachers and former teachers in the family. As a result, we have a ton of apple, desk, chalkboard ornaments. Too funny about the houses.
