Check the App store for a little program called PhotoStamper. It doesn't put it directly on the photo, but adds a white field at the bottom with the time and date stamp. You can also add the address, room, location, etc. I believe it was free or low cost, otherwise I wouldn't have it.

Why not just use a camera that digitally date stamps the photo and be done with it? This post photo taken dating program can only cause issues if the photo was brought into a legal forum where it is identified as it is, altered, and the user places a different date then when the actual photo was taken. It astounds me that some of my vendors tell me, I can't find a camera that date stamps. I tell thme if they quit buying the inexpensive throw aways and pay a reasonable sum of $150 for a camera that has it they would not need to handle the file twice. This issue came down to the mat with a BPO agent doing a backup opinion and their photo vs mine where both were dated and she used a program to date stamp a condition...guess who won that one?

I paid over $200 for my Panasonic Lumix and it cannot be set to date stamp, you have to go through on the camera and manually tag each picture to show the date stamp. Pain, but an awesome camera with a wide-angle lens and great digital zoom and I prefer it to any other camera brand (I'm on my 4th one). If I need a date stamp without the hassle, then I'll use the Nikon DSLR.
Many of the date stamp programs will use the EFIS information embedded by the camera into the digital photo, which cannot be changed (at least not easily). With a little know how, one can find that info on any picture and know when the actual date of the picture was taken without it having to print on the picture.
My preference is for good quality pictures that show as much of the interior as possible for BPO's.
But to each his/her own in their preference of cameras.

This issue came down to the mat with a BPO agent doing a backup opinion and their photo vs mine where both were dated and she used a program to date stamp a condition...guess who won that one? I both agree and disagree here. I agree that a camera can be bought that date stamps photos and that should be the way to go. If your mill is requiring date stamped photos, why the Hell not do it the way they would like you to. Where I disagree is the thought that cheap cameras do not offer this and more expensive cameras do. I have a Sony that I paid $300 for a year ago, no time and date stamp. I also had a Nikon that was a good camera, not a cheap one by any means....no time and date stamp. I think you will be surprised at how many cameras do not have this option and that price has little to do with it. All that said, they can be found and that is probably the way to go if the provider is requestiing that. A couple of years ago, I was requested to use a time and date stamp and did find a program on the web...I rethought my stance and went and got a secondary camera that offered that feature.

Look online for a cheap camera that date-stamps - it's a business deduction - what the heck.
Not to mention, we can all use back up gear. I got through quite a few cameras in this biz. Having a back up is smart biz.

I love the thought of outside folks, BPO mills, etc. that most likely monitor this forum. They get to read about all of the creative ideas as opposed to doing this the way the client would like. Nothing like just telling the world that you are going to look for a work around. Why not just get a camera that time stamps photos? I am assuming that is what they want.

I have a Nikon Coolpix L20 bought as a backup when my first Panasonic died while I was on a BPO run. Takes 2 AA batteries and uses SD card. It date stamps. It's an inferior camera to the Panasonic in every other way, but it serves as an adequate backup. I think I paid about $130 at WalMart.

I use a four year old Canon Powershot that I bought for $125. It allows me to turn date and time stamp on/off. It's a great little point & shoot.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
