Last weekend I lost all my saved documents. Most very important like my BPO spreadsheet with all the orders I completed that I kept on works database. I never liked excel.
Brought my computer to a local place who restored all my documents but I could not open them. He said because they were WDB. What? They always opened before. So works database is now not on my computer. I tried to find a free download with no luck. Anyone know where I can get a freedownload. My computer now has excel which I cannot get to do all the things I want.

Do you have Excel as part Of MicroSoft Office? I have some old documents that were created under MicroSoft Works (which came with Windows 95) and I seem to access them without a problem using Word (which is also part of Office) and backwards compatible with earlier MS Products.

I still have a disk for Works, but I don't know exactly what's on it.

Have you figured out a solution yet? Are you sure Works isn't still on your pc or another pc you have?
I have the Works suite on this older pc from 1995 and may still have the disc too. I never use it. I may be able to part with it but that may not help you in the short term.
Have you looked in the add/remove programs area to see if it might still be there? Or under program files? Look for an exe or set up file.
I'm not real pc savvy so you may know more than me.
There's an free office suite out there called OpenOffice that may have a means to help you but not sure on that.

I don't think you can open Works stuff on anything but Works. That's why I hate that program. I hate stuff that is so limited.

Open office is GREAT!!!!! I'm sorry that you can't get them to open.

Maybe if all else fails you can get a version of Works from eBay or something. Then convert everything over to Open Office - it's free, powerful and not Microsoft! wink

Good luck!

This free program coverts wdb files to excel format. It is from cnet which is safe. Follow this link to download.

Ooo that's a great link, Bigtoe! I tried some time ago to find something that would work with Works and was unsuccessful.
