Apparantley a rumor was spread over the weekend that Facebook was going to start charging for people for having profiles, prompting many users to post the following status:
FACEBOOK JUST RELEASED THEIR PRICE GRID FOR MEMBERSHIP,$9.99 PER MONTH FOR GOLD MEMBER SERVICES,$6.99 PER MONTH FOR SILVER MEMBER SERVICES,$3.99 PER MONTH FOR BRONZE MEMBER SERVICES, FREE IF YOU COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. WHEN YOU SIGN ON TOMORROW MORNING YOU WILL BE PROMPTED FOR PAYMENT INFO…IT IS OFFICIAL IT WAS EVEN ON THE NEWS. FACEBOOK WILL START CHARGING DUE TO THE NEW PROFILE CHANGES. IF YOU COPY THIS ON YOUR WALL YOUR ICON WILL TURN BLUE AND FACEBOOK WILL BE FREE FOR YOU. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ON IF NOT YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED IF YOU DO NOT PAY.
It's just a hoax!
On the opening page of Facebook, it states just above the invitation to join: “It’s free and always will be.”

lol, ya have heard similar things (obviously some sort of scam) - also heard from somewhere that someone was planning some sort of hack day against them to bring them down? lol - The person who told me was quite worried that they would lose all their photos and such because apparently that was their only storage place - found it a bit amusing.

Hi, Yes, even I heard so but didn't believe. Now I heard that, some countries are going to ban it. I am worried because I am getting traffic from it. I wish, it will be a rumor too.

Hi, Yes it is funny but true! :D Such type of rumors are always spread in the market for negative publicity of the brand. The truth is always hidden till didn't announced officially.

Does anyone actually find Facebook useful? I can not figure out how to meet anybody on there besides somebody I already know.

Does anyone actually find Facebook useful? I can not figure out how to meet anybody on there besides somebody I already know. I've found it of moderate use. Best way I've found to meet people is to show up at different events/parties that my friends are organizing - and then meet their friends in real life, then add them as a friend on Facebook after meeting them.

There are many persons on Facebook looking to steal your user name and password. Be careful.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
