About six weeks ago I received a call from Realtor.com about upgrading my profile so my name and contact information would show on their site. A coworker had recently upgraded and told me how much she paid and it seemed reasonable. When the sales rep told me the amount I was stunned. She told me I could pay for a year or monthly. I chose monthly. One of the big reasons I did it was because they told me that Facebook no longer allowed Realtors to post listings on their page.
Well, I had not been told to stop yet, but figured it was coming. About three weeks later, based on receiving NO leads from Realtor.com I called to unsubscribe. Nobody was available to talk to me, so I had to leave a message. They called back telling me what a deal and a bargain I was getting and how canceling would be such a bad idea.
I called back maybe five or six days later. I was told I was not allowed to cancel because it was three days past when I signed up. NO NO NO! Nobody ever told me that. He said I should have received an email with the rules. WEll, I did get an email, two days after I signed up, leaving me only 1 day to respond, but nothing in the email spoke of a 3 day rule.
I want out of the contract and they will not do it. I am disputing the bill with my bank, but need more documentation. I have tried to find rules on Facebook, but can't. I have emalied them, good luck there! I emailed Postlets because they have a direct link to post on Facebook from their site. I finally got an email from Postlets (Zillow, stating they have heard nothing of the sort.

Time to contact your Credit Card Company to cancel the Contract.

If the Credit Card Company won't cancel the Contract . . . . CANCEL the Credit Card.

You don't need a 2nd month's worth of education. One is enough.

I hate what Realtor.com does to the very people that make it what it is. Sadly a lot of companies are pulling a similar trick regarding the so-called "time period" rule...slightly different but same premise. Market Leader pulled that same thing on someone I know; she signed up for a 6mth or 12 mth period at a "special price" and the trial period sounded great BUT because she didn't give them a MONTH's NOTICE that she was canceling, they would not let her cancel and she had to stay in the contract for ANOTHER YEAR.

I should think you would have some kind of ability to dispute the payment with your credit card.

Regarding Facebook you are not supposed to have listings on your personal profile because you are not supposed to use your personal profile for business. You can have listings on your business page but I think the old Realtor.com app they had only worked on the profile, not on the business page.

Anyway, not having listings on Facebook isn't a big deal...your facebook business page should drive people to your website.

You're a very smart man. I wish I thought of that when I got hosed by R.com.
