Anyone tried Kaplan?

Hello everyone, I've been reading this board like crazy for the past week soaking up information. I have been looking into schools online and wondered if anyone has tried Kaplan. I know they have solid programs for GRE prep and other tests but I wasn't sure if they were any good for RE licensing.
I live in Vancouver, Wa. and will be studying to obtain my Wa. RE license. I actually met with an agent whom I know from working retail with in the past. He's been in the business for about 12 years and gave me a lot of solid advice. However the online school he recommended was quite a a bit more expensive.
I did also see several other schools online that offered the required schooling for less than Kaplan but I was a bit leary of those sites for some reason. A+ Institute for example offered the program for only $195.
I tried googling some reviews of that school to no avail.
Thanks in advance,
Ashley Finn

I did my 90 hour clock pre license course with realestate school.org it was around 300 but I thought it was the best. Im still looking at agencies in Vancouver too. I passed my license exam, theres lots of choices.

I am dual licensed for both Oregon and Washington (mostly do business in Vancouver) and took my training for both through Proschools. I would highly recommend them and they aren't expensive.

Ron would you recommend getting licensing in both states being as I am new and living in Vancouver? How long have you been in the business?

Been doing this for about 3 months now and finally hitting my stride. I like having both licenses because it doubles my territory by crossing the river. The drawbacks are both states have a few very different laws that you have to keep straight plus you need to get with a broker that has offices in both states since you are required to post your license in an office in each state.

I used Kaplan. Its was thru the univesity of phoenix in costa Mesa.I did the 4 day crash course(8 hrs a day) and then I think 2 other days the following week. I wanted to get it over with. The benefit of that is that if you buy an online course you probably wont do it and you will have a lot of questions and noone to go into any detail about the many questions you will have. When you are in a classroom you are "stuck" in there 8 hrs a day and you will be forced to get through the material.I should know.I 3 times BEFORE i went to class in the last 10 yrs tried to get through RE school online and could never get through the first 50 pages.Only when I enrolled in a crash course did I make it.I recommend also studying lots of test questions for the exam. For the calif. exam there was almost no math,I was surprised.I was lucky to get a teacher who was a re broker and a lawyer, he made all the concepts easy to understand.I couldnt get that out of a book.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
