People need to stay away from these companies that make you pay months in advance to get a decent price.

I've used hawkhost.com for about three years and stablehost.com for over one year. Most real estate sites don't generate tons of traffic so shared hosting is fine.

I use Hostgator and recommend Hostgator to all my clients. They keep the websites running 24/7/365

Hostgator is great. You can even operate multiple domains on it for a low price.

Noisy Neighbors, the idea of 1 or 2 people bogging down a shared web server is becoming more and more of a problem. Cheaper hosts throw as many websites as possible onto one server. Dedicated hosting or Software as a Service is the only reliable way to make sure your site is up to date, and quick.

Liquid Web wrote a great blog post on this http://www.liquidweb.com/blog/index.php/why-aws-is-bad-for-small-organizations-and-users/

This of course assumes that all SaaS companies use their own servers, which I suppose is a bad assumption. It's something that we strive for at Listing Scout, consistent speed and availability, something you can only control, when you control your server.

Lots of different options to choose from. Always great to own your own dedicated servers.

I would never recommend GoDaddy for anything other than purchasing domain names. If you're looking for good cheap hosting than I would highly recommend bluehost.com. They're pretty easy to use and if you have no idea what you're doing their customer service is excellent.

I've had no problem with Bluehost. Even for an amateur, I was able to host my sites, updates are easy and I have never had an issue with security (knock on wood).

I use Hostgator. Very cheap, easy to use, and no contract needed. If you decide to try them, I have an affiliate link you can use smirk

My webhost is GoDaddy! I like their reliability and cheap hosting. Also, their customer service is very helpful to me whenever I have some issues to solve.
