UPDATE - My deal closed only because it was literally in the middle of the closing. Sellers Title co said they were sending seller signed deed to buyers title co over night. Next day buyer signed docs and mortgage company funded. Buyers title company had $150,000 in escrow waiting to dispurse. After threatening to sue for specific performance etc etc etc. it finally closed last week. I hear many other people were not so fortunate to get their deals closed. Also, I hear that any offers on HSBC properties will not be getting a reply until the issues are resolved. HSBC made a policy requiring all assignments to be recorded.
