SOOOO what the heck are you guys doing in a thread about cold calling and calling people?
THAT IS A VERY GOOD QUESTION.
(they love to hate us I think, not sure how
this works out with the Karma big boss)
There is no such thing as Karma. It's a silly notion if you think about it. Even more so if you don't.
My only objection to cold calling is this: It makes us look terrible to the public and keeps the image of the profession in the gutter. However, in the final analysis, perhaps that's where it belongs given the generally accepted level of incompetence that pervades the field.
I mean can you imagine a surgeon or an attorney calling strangers begging for business? Can you even imagine an accountant or a funeral director doing this? Why, I cannot even imagine a car salesman dialing strangers and asking them if they plan to buy or sell a car in the next 6 months? A car salesman has too much dignity to sink this low. Real estate agents... do not.
So the only reason we of the more enlightened segment of the forum put our 2 cents in is to make sure the newbie population is aware of a better alternative to peddling the Kirbys and the Hoovers and such.
It is probably for the best if those who prefer this method just ignore the detractors and simply continue to impress each other with the phony lead totals and income levels. Then, just let we of the more enlightened segment sprinkle in our reality check every 50-100 posts so the newbies can keep hope alive that real estate does not have to mean journeying into Purgatory to build a career.
That way, the hustlers can impress each other, the enlightened segment can feel they did their civic duty for the newbies, and everyone can just be happy.
