Hey everyone

New to the board, in search of some honest opinionated advice...I have been involved in managing and sales/customer service for the past 5 years. Have worked my way up with the company I currently work for and am definitely proud of my achievements. Only thing is I don't feel there is much more opportunity for me to advance in the company and feel it may be time to make a change.

I have always been intrigued by real estate and feel it's such an amazing field. My family was always trying to steer me away of the idea due to the idea of it being commission based and unfortunately I let them influence me to stat away...at least before i did. I've been looking into schooling and am anxious to start, but hearing so many mixed things about getting involved in this market right now with the economy.

Anyone have any feedback about the opportunity of making real-estate a career right now? I'd really love to hear some feedback from someone new to the business as well and maybe their success/struggles.

There's plenty of information right here if you mine the past threads.

"Right now" is a terrible time for the industry, but "right now" is an excellent time to cut your teeth, and create a base for when the business rebounds.

People will take the time to help you now . . . . they will not do so when the business is booming.

If you wait until it rebounds, you will have waited too long.

This is a great time to start a career in real estate.

One big reason--a high percentage of Realtors are Baby Boomers and they are going to retire from the business in the next 5-10 years. The next generation of Realtors needs to step in and take the mantle. Get ahead of the game by starting now before a lot of people starting jumping into the industry in the next 5 years.
