I've been looking around and I know that you can take the pre license classes online but can I actually take the exam for a specific state online?

I'm not sure what state you are in, but as a general rule...no. The exams have to be proctored so they are usually held at a company that specializes in exams (Prometric, etc.). I took my RE courses online also, but had to take the tests in person.

Yes here in NY, you need to go to the government buildings to take the test. They are given about once or twice a month.

Alabama you have to be proctored, but that should be in your online classes, if not I would check the company out.

Or ask the broker for who ever you plan to go to work for, that would be the best idea.
