Just wanted to ask before I get someone moving out of here. If I refer a client to another agent, what protection do I have to receive a referral fee? In other words, is there some type of contract that I should get signed before referring leads? It seems to me that I might be sending only one person to an area and it would be easy for that agent to rip me off (knowing it's unlikely I'll have more coming). Has anyone in here referred someone and been denied a referral fee? Is there any recourse?

There is an actual broker to broker referral form that both brokers sign. It has the client's name, contact info and amount of referral to be paid upon closing. Most of them also have an expiration date on them. Usually it is one year from signing.
