I was hoping some people could share with me letters that you send to family members reminding them that you are in the business. I would appreciate any types of letters like that. You can email them to me if that is easier. vforte@weichert.com

Thanks

I find a phone call is better than a letter. It's more personal. Often I'll get a personal referral from my past clients when I call them. A letter is very formal and cold - in my opinion.

A call and a letter would be even better. One more "touch" for contact. DOn't have an example of a letter though.

I include friends and family in my regular mailings. I do postcards every 6 weeks to my farm, even those several states away are going to get a postcard next week with the details on where/when the local fireworks are going to be.

The LAST people you need for clients are family or close friends.

Get your own prospecting going. Letters are for losers. Get out there and get your face in front of people.

The purpose is to get referrals, not necessarily just have them as clients. You absolutely need friends and family to remember that you are an agent and you should ask them for referrals since they will be your advocates more quickly than a stranger.

Call them first to touch base. Let them know you're in real estate now. Then send a notecard with your business card and let them know it was great speaking to them. Keep in touch with them via mail, email, phone, chat, etc. and always, always remind them that you work by referral.

I don't want them as clients... I just want them to make sure they think of me when ever something involving real estate is brought up.

Good, Forte. I actually don't want most of my friends and family as clients, but value their referrals. I'd refer them out for my 20-25%.
