It took me six months for my first sale. By the end of my first full year at being full time, I made enough money to say "Hey, I can do this!" By the end of my 2nd year I was in the top tier of agents in the MLS and outselling agents who had been in the business longer than me. Last year I made more money than my husband by nearly double. :0) I got my license in January 2007, but didn't really "get started" until July, just after my first sale (to my friend's parents). Success in real estate to me is - you make enough money to not only survive but to make it worth your while and keep you wanting to do more, all while keeping your reputation and ethics intact! cool, amazing that you didn't get discouraged within the first 6 months, but I guess it had to do with that brokerage you were with... how did/do you measure your reputation?

If peeps still say good things about me then great. Basically I measure my reputation by how I feel about myself. I believe in the golden rule and putting my clients best interest ahead of my own gain. I like to sleep at night . The first six months I knew that change was needed. I was very frustrated but I knew I could do well if I just had the chance. It was scary! But I had a lot of support when I moved to my new office and my husband was excellent and very supportive/encouraging.

For me it goes back to not only having enough money to feel secure but having enough free time to enjoy life. These people who are on call 24/7 and talk about working 12 hour days might as well have two full time jobs. To me no amount of money justifies that.

For me, success is waking up every morning excited about what I am going to be doing. Don't get me wrong, I hate doing somethings, but its the overall process of helping people realize their dreams that makes me feel successful.
When I run my credit card payments each month I stare at my bank account for a few minutes in disbelief. That is fun, but not fulfilling. I know it will evaporate over the next 4 weeks.

I closed my first two deals within my first 40 days. (October 2010). Got my first listing on day 30. Currently I have inventory of 11 listings, and closed on my 4th deal today; with 6 more in escrow.
Not to bad, I guess - but not enough success for me! Hopefully more to come :)
I hit expireds very hard, my market is incredibly competitive.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
