Thanks in part to the information I find on these boards along with a seriously healthy dose of study, I passed the Oregon brokers test on saturday with flying colors and now get to concentrate on the Washington state test (took the national test in Oregon since Washington recognizes it, but not the other way around). Soon I will be dual licensed since I live on the border of both states (in Vancouver, WA) I didn't want to cut down my opportunity by only getting one license. Again, thank you all for the great advice you post, see you in the broker/agent area now :) I have interviewed with many brokers and it looks like Coldwell Banker is where I'll be hanging my hat.

Smart decision to get your dual licenses, you'll have another bullet in your gun, so to speak. Good luck to you!

Adding to smart to get your license in both states, also smart to live in the no income tax state, and be able to shop in the no sales tax state. My kinda thinking.

I have a question about this. Do you have to hang your license at two different brokerages then? One in Oregon and one in Washington? I'm kind of wondering how this works for you folks that live in cities or areas that are close to state borders. I'm 50 miles away from Cheyenne Wyoming and if I wanted to get a Wyoming RE license I would have to hang it at a brokers there. In essense if I didn't own my own office I would have to be paying two office bills I guess.

Yep. I have a desk in a brokerage in Oregon and another in Washington and hang my licenses in each. Both brokerages are under the same name (Coldwell Banker Seal) but each has different rules. I have wound up creating 2 different briefcases, each carrying the paperwork and other things specific to each state so I can just grab and go, wherever I am. It also helps a lot that neither office has desk fees though, I can picture that getting expensive if working from two offices. Thanks for all the good wishes :)

The companies and brokers are all multi-jusrisdictional. I'm licensed in MD, DC & VA all out of the same office in MD.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
