Hey guys, i've searched and found a few older threads, but just wondering what you brokers do to successfully recruit agents? My mom owns a mortgage company and a real estate agency. I'm 21 and have been involved since I was 16, and will have my brokers license in one more year. When i get it, i'll be taking over the real estate agency and my mom can focus more on mortgages. I'm wondering what you guys do to draw new agents. I've done small things such as local ads, but not much success. The agency has been in the area for almost 35 years now, and we do offer one of the better commission splits around, as well as office space at no fee. Thanks all!

Network and be helpful and available with agents. Because the biggest complaint I have heard from agents is they needed their BIC and the BIS was no where to be found.....

Promote the success of your agents in ways to show that you care about your agent's success.

An ad stating that Agent X is agent of the month in the Sunday paper or local real estate book will get other agents attention.

Thanks a lot Mark, that's a great idea. I appreciate the response. Any one else have any other tricks that have worked for them over the years?

You might want to look at offering incentives at first. How about some help with advertising expenses etc?

Yeah i had thought about something along those lines. Do you guys usually find that new agents are productive at all? It seems like every new agent I hire ends up not doing to much with it. It seems like out my way its a diamond in the rough to find a productive agent whose just breaking into the career. They all have huge plans and go no where with it. I'd like to hire already successful agents, but who wouldn't. It'd be nice to figure out which agents are unhappy with their current employer. Easier said then done haha

You need to offer something more than "low fees" or "attractive splits" .... Sounds redundant and cliche' nowadays.

I agree with you 100% merkaba...thats why i was trying to pick some of your guys' brains. A low split is great but of course thats what everyone uses to try to pull in agents. That's why I am trying to come up with something out of the ordinary that will set me apart :)

If you have cash and can get the phones to ring with some marketing dollars it is worth its weight in gold to agents and will get you some good ones that way. Otherwise you probably need to give away the farm to get anyone good to start with.

My company Cornerstone Real Estate has been able to grow like crazy, and without even really trying to recruit. The reason they've been able to do this is because they have a dominating online web presence, and leads that they can offer their agents. In this slower market, buyer leads is what agents want. They started in 2008, and now have 3 offices.

The company that got them the web presence was BoomerangLeads.com
