Has anyone had experience of realestate.com's referral scheme?

Allegedly they are part of Lending Tree, and offer 10 buyer or seller referrals per month for a flat fee of $199.95.

Scam? .. or worth the gamble/investment?

All comments gratefully received - thanks - Phillip

CAN be worth it IF you are lucky enough to get the RIGHT leads. I have them.......so far have NOT gotten the RIGHT leads.

I have been paying for it since March 30th. They will say anything to get you into a contract. If you are disatisfied with their service, make sure you fax the the cancellation. If you don't, they will put your account "ON HOLD" for cancellation and you will continue to pay full price to them. They told me I would get up to 8 leads each month, the most I got were 5 or 6. The majority of them had fair credit. I have had no success since Lending Tree took over Service Magic.

Just be careful. I wished I would have spent my money in a different direction. If you have any other questions, just email me.

Kim, I faxed the cancellation and was still charged.

These guys are a bunch of bums and I will let no opportunity pass by to drag their name through the dirt.

They are awful. They primarily prey on new agents. I will go as far as to say that the behavior of this may contribute to a new, promising agent leaving the business because they ran out of money.

Billboards,realestate.com,all the big bucks advertising does not work you see these gurus saying i sell 400 houses a year, they sure do with a big team of people.I use craig proctors system but i bet he maks more money selling his info and doing seminars then he does on his over 500 homes he closes each year.I figure after getting his small percentage off of his buyers agents, assistants, advertising and other costs his net is probably not that much off of his business.I thought about creating the team thing but it seems people doing teams are getting listings but also spending a ton of money.I e-mailed proctor about what he nets they responded and tiptoed around the issue. There are agents they buy and sell and do investing some are making over 1,000,000 a year just doing it themselves without a team that seems more interesting to me going that direction. All of these lead generation companies are crap. You can do your own lead generation for less and make more money and control the lead better.

Don't be fooled by lead aggurgators.... they are only out for your money and offer low quality leads you spend excessive time and effort on many of which are not even real or are from some 12 year old playing on the computer.

Lead aggurgator companies are like the person that comes to a Pot Luck Dinner.... bring only a fork.

Of course he does. Heard of working smart, not hard?

I bet Bill Gates makes more money off his stocks than selling software.

I bet the owner of this site puts in less than 15 minutes a day to update this site.

Perhaps agents can learn from people that work smart, not hard then charge big $$$ for our time.

They're not fooling anyone. Theyer making money with both fists. Don't wait for them to go out of bizness anytime soon. Learn from them now and find a better way to beat them.

Yes even if it means paying 29.95 a few times ot see how they're doing it.

If these leads were any good, they would be charging you a referral fee for completed transactions instead of $20 a lead. You'd be better off using that money to buy key words on overture/google - how the hell do you think they got the lead in the first place?

Thanks to all who took the time to reply - I'm dismayed at the number of supposedly plausible scams out there to part the honest realtor from his money

Take care all - thanks again for the info - Phillip

Last year I bought a realestate.com lead for $30. She decided to work with me over the other agents because I could pronounce her name properly. I referred her financing to my wife and we ended up both making a substantial commission.
I also bought leads from realtytracker.com and homegain.com, Both have gotten me in front of people for listing presentations but I have not close any from them yet.
