Hi there - I have rented the same home now for over two years with a perfect payment history. However, our landlord is just an individual that moved out of her place and rented it to us. She is not a business, etc. so she does not report this to anyone.

My wife and I are in the process of rebuilding our credit and got to thinking if there is a way that we could have her report our payment history to the three major bureaus? Is there an account that you can set up with someone that does this, etc.? We would be willing to pay for any fees that she would incur, as it would be worth it in the long run, but after looking at each of the three agency website, I am getting nowhere.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

I don't think that is possible. You probably have to be a member company to report and they probably wouldn't look at rent payments as credit (which in a sense it is). I think only judgements for rent non payment get reported and that is when a property management company turns the account over to a collection agency that can report. I think your best bet is to check with a mortgage lender that can give you tips on raising your score. Raising the score normally involves getting open accounts reporting paid as agreed, opening a secured credit card, and disputing items that are negative on your credit report. If you apply for a mortgage at some point, proof of on time rental payments over the term of a lease will be key to getting the loan. So make sure you keep your cancelled checks as the owner probably won't be able to give you a statement as proof as payment.
