Hey guys, I got my license a few years ago but never really got into real estate and have been doing other things. The company that I was an agent at called me and said to come pick up my belongings. Probably because it's been about 2 years and I've never showed up there or had any communication. The thing is I don't have an office or desk there so what do they mean by telling me to come pick up my belongings? I didn't want to ask and sound clueless.
Edit: Also want to add that my license expired a year ago.

I didn't want to ask and sound clueless. Why not ask what it is? If it's a Check for some Referral Fees, I'd go quickly. But if it's an Invoice for unpaid Desk Fees, I'd forgo. Then you'll have a clue. You'll only be uncomfortable for a few moments; and once again omniscient.

It's a tough life being Omniscient. Btw, it's been so long that I've forgotten but does the broker have your license in his office? Or any paperwork I need to sign? And if I want to one day do real estate again and go to a different company do I have to go back to the broker and get him to sign off on anything? Or when I re apply for my license does it not matter?

I suspect that because the License is expired, many of those questions are moot; but someone knowledgeable of California Rules and Regulations will have to assist you procedurally . . . . as I have only very limited omniscience outside my own jurisdiction.
A quick call to the California DRE may be of help, and more comfortable; but it's not like leaving a limb behind or donating a kidney.

Was it the broker that called you or was it an admin person. She may have just been using that figure of speech as a nice way to say don't bother coming back. It was the receptionist.

The broker probably just received a bill from the board office charging him/her for agents who did not pay their annual dues for 2011. So, as is normal, brokers will trim the fat of those agents who are not producing. The board requires documentation that an agent is no longer associated with that broker in order to cancel the delinquent charges. If the reason is board dues related, then the broker may or may not ask that you sign confirmation that you are no longer active with the office.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
