I own a house in long island NY and just recently started looking for some land upstate NY or eastern PA. Something over 10+ acres, close to lake, close to state land. I really want a place i can take my two boys and get away for a weekend. I looked at a few websites listing land for sale but wanted to get some info about foreclosures. Is there a such thing as a "land foreclosure listings", probably not the right terminology but I'm looking for a list of properties that are some where along the foreclosure process. My obvious reason for wanting this is to try to get the best deal for my money. And advice would be appreciated. I've done a few google search trying to find what I'm looking for and keep coming across these "free 7 day, $50/month" foreclosure BS sites. Their has to be a better way!

Also just read about the terms REO and BOP today. I would imagine that banks and\or real estate companies could be "stuck" with repossessed properties that they want to get off their books. How do I tap into that and find out?

ummm...maybe call a local real estate agent?
