I was told once I get my associate brokers license I would be able to set up my commission to be paid directly to my LLC, and I could get some larger tax benefits (I would still be working under my broker). I know laws vary by state, but if anyone has experience with this, I would appreciate some insight. I will be contacting a cpa later this week as well.

In Florida you do not need to be a broker associate. Having a LLC has MANY benifits and protections, LLC's were started in the gold rush days and protects you and your family if the LLC goes South. Or if your personal finances go South your LLC is protected.

In CA, RE brokers are specifically not allowed to form an LLC for their RE businesses. So I had to go with a corporation.
Everything goes into the corporate account, including BPO checks.

A google search will give you access to the state law regarding a limited liability company and a telephone call or letter to the state regulators for the real estate profession will advise you if it is permissible for a real estate practitioner in your particulate state to form a LLC.
You should be aware that a LLC does not in reality protect your personal assets as in the event of a lawsuit, as both the company and you personally will be named in any lawsuit. The same applies to a regular corporation operated by an individual who is deemed to be the controlling mind of the corporation and allows a plaintiffs lawyer to pierce what is called the “Corporate Veil”
You would be well advised to discuss the matter with an attorney who is familiar with incorporating companies and relevant tax beneifts prior to setting up your company.

Agent4Lee, you can also become a PA (Professional Association) which is the same as a corporation, PA=Inc. I believe you can also become an LLC. Something to the effect: John Doe, LLC.
Speak with your CPA also. Thats what I was going to say, it probably would be best for you to directly ask your CPA.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
