Realtors using Ipads??

So i finally caved in and got one.. trying to use MLS from my cellphone's browser when i'm on the road with a client just proved to be too tedious... they really need to overhaul the mobile phone version website of MLS... browsing metrolist with the ipad is so much easier and effective... battery life on this thing lasts forever and i don't have to charge it for days... My laptop battery would last just a bit more than an hour and i'd have to bring it in and charge it every night... also, you have to always find a place to set down your laptop(which isn't always easy if you're on the road). This thing is just so much more portable and easier to use when you're on the go... you can just hold it with one hand and type on it with the other... anybody else on here use an Ipad??? What apps have you found that make your job easier??? is there an esignature app for this thing? Would be great if I can just have clients sign purchase agreements right after viewing a home without having to drive back to the office... is there a winforms for ipads???

I read an article in the latest Realtor magazine I think that there is a esignature thing for it and you have to buy a little stylus. But it works really well according to the article.

A lot of new Ipad toys will be available in the new year. I'm looking forward to the blackberry version which I should be able to use with my regular phone service.
I think Apple is going to shoot themselves in the foot by not allowing flash.

You know the Playbook is already out, right? http://us.blackberry.com/playbook-tablet/Likewise, I have the Droid X which can serve as a wifi hotspot. Should be able to access the internet on the Xoom using the high speed data plan already in place on that.

We use our phones ability to turn into a hot spot and connect our ipad through the wireless modem. This way we just pay out phone bills and no satellite fee.

I don't pay extra for service... i just tether it to my cell phone.. I found an app called signmypad that will allow you to sign pdf's... works really good... all the other apps in the app store won't let you edit the pdf files that zipform generates because it's secured but signmypad does... supposedly zipform has an app out to do your forms now too but it seems to of disappeared from the app store...

I don't have an iPad yet, but some realtors are boasting about the power (or "wow" factor anyway) by using it to give listing presentations. There are supposed to be cool apps that help assemble a nice slide deck, and this can be used to make a snazzy listing presentation.

I read an article in the latest Realtor magazine I think that there is a esignature thing for it and you have to buy a little stylus. But it works really well according to the article. I think this may be the article you are referring to ColoBroker. The article suggest the esignature app DocuSign, and also mentions that an electronic stylus is needed to use the program.

Hi Kristi (and everyone else!)
I'm An - I do social media for DocuSign and wanted to stop in and say hi.
I also wanted to clarify that you don't need an electronic stylus to use the DocuSign for iPad / iPhone app, which is free to all DocuSign subscribers! Click to for more information :)
Let me know if you have any questions!

That was the article I was referring to. I didn't know docusign had such a thing? But then I don't have an ipad so I haven't looked into it.
Docusign do you have an app for the upcoming blackberry playbook? Or one in the works? That's the tablet I'm interested in.
By the way I love Docusign. Now if just everyone would use e-mail and the internet. Also only if certain lenders with foreclosures would accept docusign.

Some phones can act as a wireless hot spot allowing other wireless devices like an Ipad to connect to the internet. No physical connection or special Ipad software required. Verizon also sells a dedicated wireless hotspot device just for this purpose.

Not all Android phones are able to be a hotspot (wireless modem). My original Droid can't. Mostly the newer ones like the X.
Lucky - just go to the various carrier's websites and check out their phones to see which can do it.
Here's a comparison of some: http://blog.laptopmag.com/what%E2%80%99s-the-best-mobile-hotspot-phone

So is a signiture made on the Ipad considered a legal and Binding signiture? I would think many would have an issue with this because of likelihood of forgery ie: cut & paste.

Do those of you that have an Ipad find that it is an issue to not have flash? I think it's a huge issue. Many sites use Flash, and more and more are adding Flash features to enhance the user experience. That's why the Blackberry Playbook looks compelling. Does everything the Ipad does and supports HTML5, Flash, and will coordinate with your smartphone. The Ipad has more apps written for it, but realistically, the vast majority of those apps are silly garbage for teenagers. I would not just buy an Ipad because it's been hot. Review the market carefully, there are better options for agents that actually transact business and need the device to help them make money.

My listing presentation is on my Ipad, I use an app called OH Manager for open houses, and I used Goodreader to fill out and sign all my documents.

King, I looked at your video. Well done and good info. Do one for Goodreader! I have an Ipad, got it earlier this month. So far I have not bought any apps for it.

As the developer of SignMyPad - we looked this up. Yes a signature on the iPad is a legal and binding signature. Depending on the app, the signature may or may not have a copy and paste feature (ours doesn't for that reason). Some apps claim to have "biometrics" to prove it's your signature - but just a drawn signature will count as a legal signature.
Hope this helps.

I was a bit worried about this... Your app has made my job so much easier... if a client likes a home(and the home is far from the office), they can sign the purchase agreement for it right on the spot. No need to drive half an hour back to the office, print out purchase agreements, drive another half hour back to client's home, have them sign, drive another half hour back to the office, and scan...

I love Ipad. It is comfortable and handy to use it in browsing sites online. Through Ipad, wherever you go, you can check your emails, your markets, and locate possible clients.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
