Hello,I have renting this place for over a yr.
We were very shocked when it went into foreclosure, and sad for the couple that loss it.
We paid rent to the bank, however it sold quickley at first we were told the new buyers were going continue to rent from thr Realtor taking care of it,,He also made mention that things seemed a scammy,
Anyway the house sold and I have a copy of the court papers.
Now the big question how long does the law require the new owners to give to tenants to vacat,I am told different times.Need to know for sure, and I think Realtors deal with a lot ,and know more about it then maybe Lawyers. Remember this is not being treated as a foreclosure, more like a transfer to a new buyer.I need this ASAP if somone out there can help me I would be so gratful!!!!!!!!!!! Sharr

You may wish to check out the following Website

http://www.rto.gov.bc.ca/content/rightsResponsibilities/ending.aspx

This is the British Columbia government's website, Residential Tenancy Branch and go down to "1.9.5 How can a landlord end a tenancy" or any other section that may interest you.

I know that in Ontario you have to be given 60 days notice and it has to be done on the first of the month.

But do check out the Residential Tenancy for BC.

Not entirely correct.....it has to be a minimum of 60 days and must be no less than 60 days from the beginning of a rental period. Some people start their tenancy in the middle of the month so the 60 days would be from that date, not the beginning of the month. I just sold a property where the tenancy was from the 15th of the month and it nearly caught me because I had figured it would have been the 1st as well but I was told during negotiations that it was the 15th (I now know to be sure to ask when taking the listing what the move in date was). We were able to get the deal together and get notice to the tenants on the 14th. If we had not been aware of this and had have waited until the first of the month, we would not have been able to get rid of the tenants for an extra month.
