So sad.

This is one of the REO agent's recurring nightmares.

Very sad...

Would have been worse if he decided to try and take someone out with him.

This is absolutely terrible frown I had a personal experience with this a few years back and it is something that has never left me. Hopefully the agent involved knows that they were just doing their job and it is not their fault... took me years to come to that conclusion.

I agree that is very sad. However not to sound insensitive, but I question the mental stability of someone who sees suicide as a solution to solving personal problems.

I guess what I am trying to say is that this person may have had psychological issues for quite some time, with the foreclosure pushing him over the edge. Perhaps if he would have sought treatment years ago or even just before his death, maybe this tragedy could have been prevented.

Reading the article it appears this guy wasn't the best person and father. Not to be insensitive but it seems to be his own fault that he's all alone at the end. Doesn't say if he refinanced but since hes owned it for 20 years it looks like he did. Looks like he couldn't handle the reality of the situation he created for himself.

I think you are being insenstive. Regardless of what kind of person or father he was or what kind of mental issues he carriees with him every day, it is a shame that he felt suicide was the only way out. I think we all, as REO agents, need to show compassion.

I do not think anyone was insensitive at all. I think all would agree it is definitely a shame, a horrible tragedy. I have been through it with love ones, family and friends both. It is horrible and a pretty rotten thing to do actually.
It is very selfish, as selfish an act as their is. It is very much a tragedy, but I do question mental stability when one goes to this extreme as an out to thier problems...I do not think anybody here was insensitive at all..

I am an understanding reo agent for the folks who accept responsibility. I've helped countless people i've had to offer cfk find apartments and even gotten referrals to sell there relatives homes because they thought i was sensitive and helped them. I don't have compassion for people who live their lives alienating everyone and being selfish. Life has a way of getting even with people who live like that, it's called loneliness. That seems to be the case with this guy according to the story and his kids reaction. So i think it does matter what kind of person and especially what kind of Father he was. It says alot about a persons character.

Like Producer, I have helped cfk recipients find alternate housing. Generally, the people I deal with are grateful for the way I treated them. They had thought everybody they would be dealing with would be confrontational, and they did not expect to be treated respectfully. The people who won't even talk to me or respond to the postings have a different experience.

The links indicate that the man in this particular story had a history of drug use, and that would really complicate trying to deal with him.
