Had a pretty crappy start to my day yesterday. Fired up the computer and "disk failure" appeared on the screen. Now, I bought an external hard drive in Dec but never hooked it up and used it. Thank goodness when I shut down the computer and fired it back up, it sprang to life. I have now backed everything up - took a little time to figure it out - but got it done. Now waiting on a rush order hard drive and working on a diffent computer that has the external plugged in. I can not image if I had not been able to back up. Just the photos alone would have been a chore to go out and get let alone the contracts, monthly reports and all other docs. I will from now on run a daily backup - scared me to death. Just thought I would bring this up - for anyone else who is not backing up.

I have a WD external drive. It uses a USB port so all you do is transfer the info from one drive to the other as in just copy the files vs. an actual back up procedure. These drives are awesome because they hold a ton of information and have come down in price to less than a $100 some more but very cost effective. They are small and you can take them with you anywhere.

I use carbonite.com for my backup. It's all automatic. Plus if you need to you can access files on another computer.

I use filesanywhere for online storage but I do not use their automatic backup. Right now I back up to an external drive. I have heard their automatic backup works great. You can set it to back up when you want, and exactly which file or folder you want.

I use Sugarsync online back up after a hard drive crash last February. I can access it from my Android phone and my Ipad.

There are a lot of options especially with Cloud servers now. You can save and work on files anywhere.
