Hello, my name is Joey. This is my first post here. I have been reading through the posts, and appreciate all of the knowledge and help donated buy you guys. I am 24 years old, and live in WV. I have worked as a drafter for a log home company for the past 5 years. I draw up the complete set of blueprints and figure up a list of materials for the homes we sell. I have had minimal experience in the pricing or sales part of the company, but have recently been thinking about getting involved in real estate. I am not interested in completely quitting my job right now, just wondered if it is worthwhile to try to sell real estate on the side, part time. There is a pre-licensing course at our local branch of WVU that begins later this month. I was thinking of taking the course and taking the state exam. I just don't know if being an agent is something you can do profitably "on the side". It is something I think I would really enjoy, which is my primary motivation to consider doing it. Like I told my wife- I love watching "House Hunters" on HGTV lol. We bought our first home two years ago. I am young and ambitious- have always done well in school. Have no college degree, but have completed 28 credit hours of basic/business courses with a gpa of 3.68. My wife and I also opened our own small candle/bath & body store next to our house last year, which has done really well. I also designed and built a website for it, which has also been profitable, and I handle all the financial aspects of the business. (If you wanna peek, the site is
www.fernwoodhollow.com) I work T-F 7a-5:30p, so I would be available in the evenings, on weekends, and all day on Mondays. Sorry to write a book, I just don't know anyone in real estate, and would really appreciate some honest advice, as to whether or not I should pursue this. Thank you in advance for any posts! And good luck to all of you. BTW, I was reading the thread called "Just a Kid" on page two, and it is encouraging to see other guys so young succeeding at this. Thanks!
