There is no single magic bullet. Much of it is just common sense:

Be found on the internet. That's pretty much the secret. How to be found?

Website w/ good SEO
Blogging w/ good SEO
Social Networking w/ good SEO (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
Links to your website

'Secret of success'? Much like other 'secrets',it consists of hard-work, perseverance, willingness/ability to learn and a healthy dose of common sense.

I would recommend learning basic fundamentals of SEO (start with Google's Starter Guide), it's all very simple, but requires work and patience. If you are looking for a 'secret' to get you on Google's first page overnight, then perhaps this is the wrong forum. Best of luck.

The idea is to have a complete marketing system in place. You need a page to capture leads, a blog for both seo and also to keep your prospects interested and allow them to see you as an authority on your topic, and you need an auto responder follow up system in place to communicate ona regular basis. All of this should be set up as a hands off marketing system by having them linked together.

This is what I'm working on now. It's so time consuming that I hired an assistant to keep up with all my active listings on all the social networks, as well as doing several other time consuming projects on the internet that will hopefully help drive people back to my personal website.

For a good start in SEO - great quality content and high quality, relevant links, and time. You also have to factor how you present that content to your target audience and how you can keep them on your website. Also, you throw in social media to interact with your audience. It's a lot of work and if you keep at it, you will be successful.

There is no "secret of success." Half of it is knowing your target market and creating a marketing mix of promotional materials that helps to convert your target market into customers. The other half is trial-and-error. Good luck!

I would say the the key to success is CONTENT & INTERACTION!

I would use Social Media to become the Celebrity in your town/market.

Create videos, audios and articles on the biggest mistakes to avoid, let them ask you questions and so on...

Notice how I there is a tab called "Ask Kevin"... Well I have them submit to me their questions about Internet or Social Media Marketing and then I make an audio for the group answering that question.

The "contact form" is a free app at http://www.jotform.com

This type of value gets passed around and shared with friends.

But the key is to put out content so that you are seen as the Expert. Then interact with them by answering their questions, replying to their comments and so on.

Creating a Facebook Fan Page is really simple and you could get one started in 15 seconds by going to this link...

DO NOT DO A COMMUNITY PAGE (as facebook can take this over if you get a lot of fans)

I would go with your actual name to build your personal brand. Then tell everyone about this page. Tell people they can go and ask you questions, get audios and videos about the most important steps for preparing and to avoid...

And believe me people who use this and find it valuable WILL tell their friends in the future when it comes up in a conversation.

And once people see you on video and listen to your audios, as cheezy as it sounds, to them you become somewhat of a Celebrity. This makes them feel special when they are with you and are going to look at houses together... WHY?

Because they have spent hours watching you while sitting in their home and now there are hanging out with you! Same reason the people from Jersey Shore on getting talked about by the President.

They are not in some action flic or movie... Its that we have sat at home watching them and now we are apart of that movie we have been watching.. I know heavy duty psych stuff BUT IT WORKS LIKE MAGIC!

When I get hired for a consultation or some joins my group coaching they always say... OMG I watched your videos so many times and now I can't believe I am actually talking to you... HONESTLY DUDE IT A TRIP!

Thanks Kevin. That Jotforms site is great. I wanted to add a tab to my facebook, like your "submit a question" form. Looks like the set up is different now that Facebook upgraded once again. The FBML site doesn't seem to load the app anymore.

Shane, it's important to develop a short-term and long-term online marketing strategy. I think the short-term tends to need some offline help, but Craigslist and Answer Sites would be a good start.

Social media and SEO make the most sense for the long term, i.e. the next 12-18 months. The important thing is to get yourself off on the right foot today so that the strategies bear fruit and don't waste your time. SM and SEO are long marathons, so it's important to pace yourself.

There is no secret whether you are blogging, optimising your website for serp, ppc advertisig. It all boils down to persisitance and perseverance to continue even when all odds are against you.
