Loc: land of cheaper and cheaper bp...
i received a phone call from someone in my area asking me if i can provide a bpo for them. all the years in the business this is a first for me... without going into too much detail as to why, he stated that he is not looking to sell his home nor does he want to spend the $450 that an appraiser quoted him. i can at the very least applaud his honesty...

my question is can we as realtors legally charge someone for a bpo and provide him with an invoice for services? if so what would be a fair fee for an interior bpo? any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I've done them before for private investors buying bulk property and once for someone who wanted a PMI drop.

Hopefully they won't FSBO it. That does happen sometime.
Maybe ask up front why they want it. Charge a fee that will be refunded if they list with you.

If it's legal in your state to do BPOs at all, it's legal to charge him, I would think. Can't imagine why not.
