I accidentally posted this question in "buying", maybe it will get more comments in "selling"...

A majority of buyers today go to the internet to search for homes. We, as Realtors, depend on the internet for getting our listings out there. What are some basic marketing ideas that you use that prove to be effective (outside of the cyber world)? Ie: direct mailers.

Let's make a list!

-Direct Mailers
-Posting listings at nearby stores, libraries, etc...
-Word of mouth around the neighborhood

Open Houses.
Flyers in Brochure boxes.

Just listed door knocking, people are always curious.

Put a giant "Under Contract" rider on your sign. There is no better way to increase call volume!

This is an interesting idea. Indeed, neighbors are always curious about a new listing in their neighborhood, but will this curiosity shadow your purpose of knocking on their door? For example, how do we get the neighbor to call us 3 years later when they want to sell?

I think the idea of just listed door knocking would be more to find a) sellers who want to sell NOW or b) neighbors who have friends who want to move in their neighborhood. Door knocking seems to me to be a means to a "sooner" end than 3 years down the pike.
