I think we are going to see these types of stories more often again just like we did around 2008 about all the folks losing their homes. This is just a paperwork snafu that of course the politicians are going to jump on to make it look like they are doing something. Which will make it even more difficult.

A friend of mine had a friend who had a cousin who got evicted. It happened so fast she was not able to finish diapering her baby. Poor kid had to leave the house naked in the middle of the winter. So sad.

I see people staying in there homes without paying about 1 to 2 years here. People talk about it freely as if it is part of their game plan. I don't know a home. I work 60 + hours aweek to pay rent. It doesn't seem fair.

You're right. Its not fair.
All moral hazard was removed from the mortgage industry when the Federal Gov't repealed Glass-Steagall and decided to insure very bad loans which should have never been written and the organized crooks took advantage of it all.
What you're feeling is normal and understandable - when we see others "get theirs" "where's mine?" is the next question. When we see crooks benefit and even HIGHLY PROSPER at our expense, we see the injustice - it's so OBVIOUS.
Spin-masters are spinning and throwing facts and figures at us - threatening to blow up the economy if the Big Players don't get their way aka another bailout and more consolidation and less regulation and taxes.
While our kids walk to school because they cut bus service. While Social Security doesn't get a cost of living increase but food, rent, gas, and utility prices are jumping.
Where do we go from here, now that morality is OBSOLETE?

I looked up the agent interviewed. Her website doesn't mention anything about her doing REO business. I don't know about everyone else but usually I'm the only agent within a mile when the Sheriffs go in. I've never seen someone with a meal on the table and I've done hundreds of evictions. I bet she's never even done an eviction!
On Friday I closed a loan mod for an owner who was 19 months behind in his mortgage. All they did was lower his rate, and refinance his balance. There was about $2,100 worth of closing costs and it was rolled into the end of the loan. He basically lived in the house free for 19 months.

But those 19 months worth of payments plus interest (at the old rate) were rolled into his "New" Mortgage Balance . . . . right ? He just postponed the inevitable for a little bit.

I think I will quit paying for mine.
In the mean time I'am working my tail off to pay rent every month. It sucks.

There you go! -- I want rewarded, fi-nan-shall-lee doggone it!, for paying my mortgage payments every cotton picking month, on time no less. I just want a reduced mortgage, or a few months of someone else paying the bill . . .After all, right along with the rest of you, I've been paying taxes too and supporting a boatload of deadbeats in the process. Where's my reward, Congress?!? Where's my bailout, Mr. Prez-i-dent?!?

I have been involved in many lock outs. Since we don't make appointments with the occupants, we find them doing all sorts of things including sitting there eating breakfast and drinking coffee when we arrive. It's not like the occupants were never warned of the lock out as notices are taped to the front door before it happens. But yes, we do show up unannounced. It is safer that way as the former owner doesn’t have the opportunity to plan any surprises for us.
Some cases are sad with disabled or sick people, kids, etc. These are the cases that get the press. I had a guy once who actually thought he was a time traveler. The guy had equity in his house but wasn’t capable of taking care of himself and lost it all. Others don’t deserve much pity. Still, the fact remains that if you don’t pay, you can’t stay.

Most of the loan mods I have closed have reduced the person monthly mortgage payment by several hundreds of dollars a month just due to the lowering of the interest rate. This particular instance was from 6.8% variable to a 5.0% fixed. Most persons only look at their monthly payment and not the total cost or even the total number of years.
What kills a lot of persons when they get behind on their property taxes and then have to go out and get a property tax loan for 18+ percent. That's a killer if you are financing over 3 years a few years of property taxes.

I've had evictions at 10 or 11AM and the deputies woke up the occupants. Too much party the night before. And locally, each county sheriff handles the notification differently. A couple post the notice, but there are two that mail it to the address provided by the bank. And have had others where the occupant was told by some attorney to stay put, it would be delayed or even reversed.

I started offering cash for keys to one lady in Feb. She would never take it. In June the Sheriff posted her door with a three week notice. She called me, I can't get out, I can't get out. I suggested she call the sheriff, which she did. She got another week, closed on a new house and moved out. When I went to do the re-key, there was a note on the door that she would be back on Sunday to pick some other things up. She was hardly thrown out into the street, and she used her old house for storage til she could get the rest of her stuff. The very first thing I tell people when I start a cash for keys is, if you work with me, the sheriff won't show up, but if you don't, please remember, the eviction is filed at the same time we start working on cash for keys. I have only had one occupant still at the property and she had moving guys loading a truck when we showed up.

I have not experienced any of that and I must say the media does a great job of making viewers/readers feel sorry for the people getting evicted. I watch or read about it and I feel horrible for the people thinking "How could these evil banks do this"
After hearing the above experiences I feel like I have a new perspective and shoud not feel so bad for the people . . . the whole story makes a big difference!

Anthony - you appear to be a busy and imaginative and young businessman, I hope things are going well for you.
At times I research who has what going on here and I must say you seem to have a lot going on - in many different directions.
I think the funniest I have watched so far is the beginning of this:
From there others can follow some of what you have going on - but dude - if I see you in person I'll be keeping a close eye on you - just to be certain.

Hey PA Roadkill Anthony here trust me I am dying to shave this thing off me...I did this as a commitment to lose 67lbs!
You know how in our profession we put the deal before our health well 7 years later I found myself 67lbs heavier and after losing my dad at only 54 years old I decided to do something about it.
It's been a challenging road I started 10/31/2009 and it's almost a year later...and I only have 8lbs to go! You should see the looks I get in the elevator of my building. (on the sidewalk people cross the street so they don't have to walk on the same side of the road ha ha) It's funny because I really am a gentle giant.
My plan is to AUCTION off on eBay how the winner can shave my beard and I have to wear it for a week and what I want to do is donate the money to a children's charity!
So when I am ready to do this Shaving I hope all of you can support me and pass the word on so we can raise a ton of money for a children's charity.
Regarding the mother being evicted with her undiapered baby in cold weather, I am confused. Would a public servant doing his job endanger a baby's health when all he had to do was tell the mom to change the diaper while he ensured she did not duck back into another part of the house to grab something else to take with her. These people have to abide by the law themselves and make sure they do the eviction by the book. This public servant would be suspended at the least if that child became ill...and think of the news media. I'm just wondering if the mother was exaggerating for sympathy. I do sympathize with those folks who had options and no where to go or who were suffering from depression. I don't know many folks who would tempt fate by hanging on to see how far they could ride it out...unless they were paying for storage and living with a cot and coffee pot to save the money they will need to be able to find other housing. The rental industry does not look too keenly to people who don't pay their housing obligations. They are a little cold and bitter themselves.
Wow, is my face red. Thank you for pointing that out. I just did not want to believe anything that mean. It should have dawned on me that it was an obvious joke. Dang, I gotta get more sleep. I guess Reodayton's head is still shaking in disbelief that I took that so seriously. I was even planning to hang up when they called me for donations for the sheriff's association. I'm on vacation right now...maybe that will help.
