A growing number of agents in our office are using the iPad effectively in their day-to-day activities. However, I've always been one who felt that Apple products were generally over-priced and somewhat limited compared to their PC counterparts.

Evidently, there are some non-Apple tablets on the near-term horizon that will equal or surpass the iPad's capabilities. However, I'm interested in knowing if any of you consider any current non-Apple tablets worthy of consideration as an iPad alternative.

Many thanks.

Once perfected and ready to market, I believe I might find the BlackBerry Playbook a feasible alternative. Delayed in launch to get bugs worked out here is a comparison:

My biggest issue with using Apple products in Real Estate is that MLS does not work with Safari . . . I use Apple products in my internet marketing business but would love to see a similar product like the ipad come out that MLS and flash will work on!

Samsung actually just came out with a tablet; Verizon is going to be selling it and the starting price is around $600. The screen runs 7 inches diagonally so it's a little bit smaller than the iPad and runs on google android. It has two cameras (unlike the ipad) which would be idea for video conferencing.

Our MLS mad apps for both iPhone/iPad and Android. It's surprisingly good too!

I'm interested in the playbook, but I am 95% sure I don't need one. I don't really like using a laptop. And my blackberry gets me my e-mails. BUt if they price it low I'll probably get suckered into buying one.

I been using an Acer one 10" with windows xp it works just great.
when out with clients instant answers for question that may arise.
Can access tax info, building permits, the MLS, info on the house around the corner that's listed above their price range(lol), It's invaluable! It has always set me apart from other Realtors. I bought a refurbished one from buy.com for $239.just to try it two yrs ago with never a problem. Many clients find it impressive and think I'm the most prepared Agent they've ever worked with. I even have a small printer I can use if needed, but mostly print to a pdf and send it to their email. whether you choose a small laptop or an Ipad these are must haves in today's market.

Being a Realtor, I know that my fellow Realtors love to save a buck every chance they get. Black Friday is the perfect opportunity to pick up one of these tablets or a netbook at a huge discount.

I wrote a blog today that I wanted to share with you guys: [url=http://sandiegorealestateagent.net/events/black-friday-shopping-in-san-diego-ca-7-things-to-know-before/]Black Friday Shopping in San Diego, CA - 7 Things You Need to Know[/url

Hello All,

I work in High Tech and in fact, work with many OEM/s (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.) and ODMs (Asus, MSI, Foxconn, Quanta, etc.) on the design/development of PC platforms (including slates/tablets).

I can tell you there is a whole host of solutions coming this year (2011) that will provide options and various pricepoints to customers.

As to the quality, usability, etc. of these solutions, they will be all over the map. Some will have great features, while others, not so much.

Here are some questions I posted in another forum where this topic was being discussed:

Do you want a tactile keyboard or will a touch screen only work for you? Keep in mind, some will have dockable keyboard solutions as well.

Do you want more processing power or something light and easy to carry around?

Will you be running spreadsheets, MS word, Powerpoint, etc. on it?

What about video files (flash, Silverlight, h.264, Mpeg 4, etc.)?

Is an App Store important to you?

Is this a companion device or will it replace your main PC (desktop or laptop)?

Is battery life important and if so, how long does it need to last on a single charge?

Is connectivity important (i.e. 3G) or will wireless only do?

Do you need a camera on it?

Is this primarily for work or for home?

It is important to understand your needs/requirements and the usage model to determine what is the right solution to choose.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Jay

I have a Toshiba Thrive that I will be using.
I like it because it has PORTS, and none of the other ones have.
Makes it so much more easier.
Yeah it was about $500 BUT WORTH IT

Cannot beat a Blackberry PlayBook at $199. You can tie it to your Blackberry phone so your not limited to wifi at no extra cost.
