I always hear from people that move to San Francisco Bay Area that housing is shocking. So I thought it would be fun to just have everyone pick out what different types of homes costs in your area. I have only known SF, so high prices are only thing I am exposed to.

Okay, in San Francisco:

1. 2bed, 1 bath, 1100 sq. feet in nice part of town, $650,000 - $735,000.

2. 4bed, 2 bath, 2000 sq. feet: $850,000 - $1,200,000.

3. 5 bed, 4 bath, 4000 sq. feet, 1.9 - 3.9 Million.

Dallas:

Depends what you mean by "nice part of town" so I'll assume a middle class area where you'd see professionals and managment type people.

Basically take the prices shown for San Francisco and cut them into a third to a quarter for Dallas. If you want the Park Cities or intown or uptown areas then cut the San Francisco prices in half.

Colorado Springs CO
3 beds, 2 1/2 baths, loft or bed rm, 3 or 4 car, 3,150 sqft total (incl. 900 sqft unfin. basement) 8,000 sqft lot = $240,000

I miss Dallas!! (I digress...) Here in the Midwest, SEIowa specifically...


1. 2bed, 1 bath, 1100 sq. feet in nice part of town, $80,000 - 110,000.

2. 4bed, 2 bath, 2000 sq. feet: $200,000 - $275,000.

3. 5 bed, 4 bath, 4000 sq. feet, 400,000 - 500,000.

Ann Arbor, Michigan:

1. 2bed, 1 bath, 1100 sq. feet in nice part of town, $230,000 - $280,000.

2. 4bed, 2 bath, 2000 sq. feet: $300,000 - $400,000.

3. 5 bed, 4 bath, 4000 sq. feet, $600,000 - $1,000,000.

Des Moines, Iowa:

1. 2bed, 1 bath, 1100 sq. feet in nice part of town, $90,000 - $120,000.

2. 4bed, 2 bath, 2000 sq. feet: $165,000 - $220,000.

3. 5 bed, 4 bath, 4000 sq. feet, $400,000 - $ 900,000.

Austin, TX. Here is what I found in MLS:

1. 2bed, 1 bath, 1100 sq. feet in nice part of town, $170 - $250,000.

2. 4bed, 2 bath, 2000 sq. feet: $200,000 - $350,000. 4/3s are more common that 2 baths.

3. 5 bed, 4 bath, 4000 sq. feet, $550,000 - $1,350,000.

Folsom / El dorado Hills, CA

1. 2bed, 1 bath, 1100 sq. feet in nice part of town, $280,000 - 380,000.

1a) 3bed, 2 bath, 1400-1700 sq. feet:
$400,000 - 440,000

2. 4bed, 2 bath, 2000 sq. feet: $460,000 - $550,000. 4/3s are more common that 2 baths.

3. 5 bed, 4 bath, 4000 sq. feet, $800,000 - Sky is the limit

Roanoke, Virginia (nice neighborhoods)

1. 2bed, 1 bath, 1100 sq. feet, $180,000 - 230,000.

1a) 3bed, 2 bath, 1400-1700 sq. feet:
$230,000 - 320,000

2. 4bed, 2 bath, 2000 sq. feet: $320,000 - $410,000.

3. 5 bed, 4 bath, 4000 sq. feet, $410,000 - $600,000

Las Vegas, NV:

1) 2 bed, 1 bath, 1798 sq. feet with 2.5 arces of land - $675,000

1A) 2 bed, 1 bath, 1450 sq. feet with only half acre - $399,000

2) 3 bed, 2 bath, 1886 sq. feet, 0.65 acres - $440,000

3) 4 bed, 2 bath with half bath, 2626 sq. feet, 0.26 acres - $499,000

4) 5 bed, 3 bath, 2561 sq. feet, 0.40 acres - $595,000
