Please help - my seller is living on the moon so after scanning and faxing and emailing contracts all over the place, our contracts are hard to read - but all the parties have read, agreed and signed them.

The Legal Dept is having a cow because they're not clear copies. I can't travel to the moon to fetch clear copies for them. Now what?

I tell them that "I'm circulating an Original, (incorporating all agreed to changes) in order to obtain signatures of the Parties on one clean copy . . . . just for them. "These things take time. "Work with what you've got in the meantime . . . . or tell your Clients that you refuse, and stop the meter until the clean copy returns from its journey."

That usually pacifies them. Nobody wants to stop the meter.

So you suggest I rewrite a brand new Purchase Agreement and send that around?

That might be your best bet.

I'm just amazed with the leaps and bounds in technological advances that nobody has been able to improve the quality if fax transmissions. Faxes are still very much viable and necessary.

It amazes me that fax machines are still being used at all. I know of nobody that has a fax that doesn't have a computer as well.

If we would all CHUNK the faxes, and buy a small affordable scanner (I LOVE my Scansnap), the clarity problem would be solved immediately, and the documents could be available instantly in our "inbox".

^^ That's so true, except when they're scanned at a low-resolution and they come out very faint, which is what happened in my case.

Maybe the Original will be back in time for the Closing . . . . just to tidy up their files.

If not, and those nasty faint contracts are still there serving as the basis for your Transaction, you can just say "Now I feel very faint too" and leave the room. They will finish the Closing in your absence, and you come back in to get your Check and say "Good, I'm all better now". They'll forget about it. Save a tree !

I know a lot of tech - UN-savvy people who couldn't scan to save their lives...including some AGENTS!!!! Plus not everyone (consumers) has scanners w/ doc feeds, and scanning an 18 or 21 page contract can get very tedious one by one....

What I hate are the real estate offices who continue to fax show notices. Dear God what a waste! 3 pieces of paper wasted...even more if they keep faxing you "reminder" notices...lol

If you don't have a suitable scanner, any local FEDEX (or similar) can do this for you at very low cost. I too am amazed that fax machines are still in operation when there is a vastly superior alternative.

Sounds like it time to rewrite a contract and gather as many parties in one place that you can to avid faxing/scanning multiple times.

I agree with what has been said. Circulate a new clean, crisp document that is a Restatement of the prior agreement. If necessary, parties can also sign in counter parts.

Use what you have to get things going but maybe send a new crisp copy through mail for wet signatures. It will take time put you will have better copies.

I agree here. Digital is the way to go. It's faster and if your lawyers don't have a "cow" with it then it would be suit everyone's needs.
