Hi, I was wondering if you guys could recommend some good sites that provide online programs that will allow me to take the license exam? I found realestateexpress.com and careerwebschool.com. Would it be a good idea to take courses from these sites? I know nothing about this so any help is appreciated. Also, I'm in NY if that matters.

I'd say that if you aren't well-versed in real estate concepts then you might benefit more from a live instructor. The interaction that you'll get in a live classroom is a benefit that doesn't carry over to most online learning environments.

Online courses are great; choose an accredited school like the one's you mentioned and you will be fine. Getting your license is the easy part...make sure you sign with a broker like Keller Williams to get the best agent training, education and support.

Stop it already with the kw crap. For every good kw office or agent you can show me, I can show you a bad one. All the other name brands have training and support, too. New agents should check out all of them.

No one cares about your negative opinion of another company bk estates. There are agents with bad attitudes like you at every company..stick to the subject.

Choosing a company is a personal choice; training and support are essential. You should definitely check out as many brokers as possible to find the right fit. Make sure the company you sign with has up-to-date training; not something copyrighted 1985. And support shouldn't be asking Bob, the top agent for the past 20 years, how to sell real estate. You need a company that cares about your success, not just throwing you to the wolves.

I don't necessarily have a bad opinion of kw. I have a bad opinion of you for using this forum to try to build your downline. You can give good advice about what to look for in a brokerage without always trying to steer people to kw.

As for the training that kw provides, most of it was done by Mike Ferry around 1985. I don't think they are doing anything original.

You say you don't have a bad opinion of KW. Then why did you make a negative comment about their offices and agents? Can't take it back once you write it, smart guy!

If I don't tell people about KW, chances are, you will and look where that is getting us.

All I said was that there are good kw offices and bad ones. Is that negative? Maybe you need to brush up on your reading comprehension skills.

I think it's clear to everyone that Brent Mitchell out to pimp Keller Williams. (I'm sure you're a decent guy, but I for one am certainly not about to drink the KW Kool-Aid.)

As far as the OP is concerned......

While I don't know New York, what I can tell you is that the online real estate schools are going to teach you everything you need to pass the exam. Likewise, most in-person schools will teach you everything you need to pass the exam.

HOWEVER, passing the exam is the EASY part. Don't worry too much about learning everything you will need to actually succeed in the real estate business. That's not going to happen until you find a good employing broker who has an excellent training program. Many independent and franchise firms offer stellar top-notch training...but, of course, many don't. What works for you will depend more on your sales experience in general than your recollection of obscure laws that are important for exam purposes but that have little day-to-day bearing on your job.

Well IMHO taking the course online was really great, well if you're too busy like me I just don't have the time to go to a live class, at first I was in doubt about taking the courses online but everything turned out great manage to finish 210 hours of online classes.

Meh, those are OK. If you notice my other posts, I'm a big fan of TrainingPro/ProSchools (biggest NMLS training provider in the US), but all have their limitations.

Personally I'd want to go with the bigger programs that have credibility - I've seen a lot of horror stories on here about people taking classes from a small shop and getting an absolutely horrible training experience.

Their site makes it pretty simple: http://www.trainingpro.com/December-31-2010/nmls-training.html
