I have a photo copy of the warranty deed that was created when my Mom bought the condo I live in. It shows both of our names as the grantees. Can someone please tell me what this means? Thanks in advance. Linda

warranty deed: A deed warranting that the grantor (SELLER) has a good title free and clear of all encumbrances and will defend the grantee (YOU, BUYER) against all claims.
When you buy and sell real estate the grantor is the seller and the grantee is the buyer.
If you and your mom are both listed as grantees that most likely means you own the property jointly; probably as tenants in common.
Ask your mom. If she doesn't know then you both need to find out. Ownership is a very important property right and you each need to know how you hold title.
