My income to rent ratio standard is 2.9. Meaning, your gross income shouldn't be higher than 2.9 times whatever you pay in rent. Some landlords push it to 3 times.
You can pay as much as you can and as much as your landlord will let you.
Rents are only regulated by reality and you realistic capability.
