IDK about legalities- but the only mail that gets opened by my office is mail/overnights that looks like it may be a closing package. Everything else is left untouched. I prefer it that way- it would irritate me if they opened everything.

Mine will if its like Lacey explained. If a check is expected and comes in a plain envelope and he suspects it may be important, he will call me or email me.

I had the same problem at a shop I worked at some time ago. I looked into it, and overall, you have no expectation of privacy if mail is coming to where you work.
It's upsetting, but I don't believe there's any law against it.
I would talk to him about it if it bothers you. The best recipe for a good relationship is open communication. If not then you need to figure out if it's a big enough problem to take action on it.

The Office assistant in our office opens everything, she's looking for checks and such I don't think she really cares as to what's in it. Mainly because everything sent to the office is Business related. I've never had anything personal sent there and never plan to. To tell you the truth I don't even give it a second thought.

Not sure as to the legality of opening your mail but my current broker does the same thing from time to time...it seems almost as to keep tabs and see what I am up to but it bothers me and no longer really have anything mailed to our brokerage firm's office.
This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
