I am trying to determine the required one-time and annual fees for a new agent located in VA.

I have already visited 1 broker, and these are some of the fees so far. Not sure which ones are required?

Broker Fees
E & O Insurance - Annnal Fee of $120.00
New to the Business Agent start-up Kit - One Time Fee of $350

DPOR Fee
New Agent - One Time Fee of $170.00

Association of Realtors Fees (local chapter)
New Agent - One time fee between $1100 - $1400
Membership Dues - Annual Fee of $355.00
Service Charge for MLS - Quarterly Fee of $150.00
Supra key Activation - One time fee of $75.00
Supra Key - Annual Fee of $170.00

Please advise..

Is what you refer to as the "DPOR Fee" your Real Estate License ?

If so, I don't think that would be considered "One Time" ?

And this, my friend, is just the beginning of the money spending. Marketing, self-promotion, farming, websites, software, hardware, and other expenses will kick in right after you pay your "cover charge". Thousands per year if you do it right. If you do it wrong (cheapskate method), you will be out of the business in a year or so. I won't even get into the necessity of having a good car and good clothes, both of which cost money. Make sure you come into this game with adequate capitalization.

DPOR is Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations.. This is a one-time fee of $170 for a new agent.

Well then you've omitted your Commonwealth of Virginia Real Estate License . . . . unless they're starting to give them away for free these days.

It's the most important one.

Without it, none of the others exist.

You may want to consider an increase in your vehicle insurance because it will be business rated now. That cost will depend on your insurance carrier
