Discussions of individual asset management companies are for the most part being aggregated in a new Forum - the BPO, REO, Foreclosure Asset Managers Forum. If you are looking for a thread about an asset management company that was here the last time you visited - it is likely in the new forum. The new forum can be found directly below this forum on the list of forums.

If you were subscribed to a thread that was moved your subscription (email notification of replies) would have ended with the move. You will need to subscribe again in the new forum.

Access to this new forum is restricted to those who we can verify are actually real estate agents. The easiest way to do this is contact me by Private Message or contact one of the Global Moderators here after you have placed a link to your personal real estate website in your profile. We will check your profile for information that proves you are a real estate agent so a link to your website will help us do that. If you don't have your own website you can link to your profile on your company website or provide us with your NAR membership ID number.

You only have to do this once - not every time you want to access discussion about asset management companies.

With over 1000 threads and 35,000 posts, the new forum is the place to look if you want information about or want to discuss an issue involving a particular company. If your question is "Does anyone know anything about this particular company?" The answer is to check the BPO, REO, Foreclosure Asset Managers Forum. There is a wealth of information there and it is easy to find.

Dear Admin,

Given the circumstances that have befallen this forum over the past year, I think you are going to find a dramatically decreased level of participation in this forum (actually, it's been down for quite some time). This isn't because we aren't agents, but we have learned the lesson of what happens when you reveal your identity to certain moderators. If you have questions about this, I'd be happy to talk to you about the concerns that many members have had, have expressed and continue to have.

This used to be an active, vibrant, useful forum - but as Due Diligence mentioned in the shout box, someone has killed the heart and soul of it.

Sincerely,
TB

p.s. Who's idea was this new "restricted" forum, and what was the rationale?

The idea was mine. The rationale has to do with an issue with threads appearing in the top of search engines and being widely available for viewing by everyone searching for asset management companies by name. In many cases that situation was unfair to the companies.

I also noted that the only people who should be interested in these companies are agents. Often anonymous people will stop by for a quick mud slinging and disappear. No one knows whether they are actually agents or just a disgruntled employee, shareholder, customer, or just a mischief-maker. That too is not fair to have their statements available to everyone searching the net forever.

We are at the stage with the internet where companies are becoming more aware of managing their online reputation and this issue just grows with age and has the potential to consume a huge amount of my time - and money.

My first inkling was to make the entire BPO and REO forum private and that is something that some members have been wanting for several years. I decided I liked the option of aggregating all of the company threads in a forum and just making that forum private.

The new private forum is great for anyone searching for information about asset management companies. The threads are easy to find because they are all together rather than being sprinkled in thousands of other threads. I would urge anyone looking for company info to check it out.

The new forum is restricted to agents. You can however still maintain your privacy to some degree. Other members or moderators don't have to know your real identity - just I do. I need to be satisfied that you are a real estate agent. You don't have to have your website or other info in your profile if you don't want to - just send me a PM with the info so I can verify.

I've been a forum member for 4 years. I don't like this restricted forum idea either. Is this restricted forum free?

The forum is free.

In the interests of expediency I am assuming that all those that are Veteran Members (a level reached at 500 posts) are real estate agents and automatically have access on that basis. So, you have access.

Perhaps I am in the minority on this one, but I favor the section that contains names of specific BPO and AM companies to be of restricted viewing. In addition, those with under 500 posts simply have to show proof that they are an agent. A simple e-mail of your license should suffice, which is the same thing you would do to sign up with a BPO mill or an Asset Manager.

I view the MB to our break room. A place where we can share information and sometimes vent about our experiences. When we starting talking about specific companies, I'm not sure I want that information available to every Tom, Dick and Harry that has access to the site.

Has the MB become "Dumbed Down" in recent years? Not to offend, but I feel it has to some degree. Maybe this will help make posts more informative with contributions from people that truly are our peers, rather than people that could be just anybody.

It is important to note that I feel this way as long as it remains a free forum. If it turns into something that requires fees or payments, then in that case I would say leave it alone. People that have been here for any extended length of time already network within the MB via private means, so I think adding a fee will not work, nor would I want it to.

A fee is not being considered. A few years ago many were pushing to make the forum private and to charge a fee. That was rejected as it goes against the founding principal of this forum which was for the FREE sharing of information and networking for the benefit of the Realtor participants.

See A Brief History Of These Forums for more information on how the forum came to be.

You may also want to check out this 2007 thread for some information about the BPO and REO forum's history.

I am requesting addition to this new group. I don't have a lot of posts but I completed 100+ BPOs per month and I have been a part of this board for a few years. Thank you.

You should have access now. It took me a while to give all the veteran members permission but all should have permission now.

For those who are not a Veteran Member, it really is a painless procedure. You will not get the third degree - I just need to see some indication that you are a real estate agent. Just click on my name "Admin" to the left and send me a PM.

It may not happen instantaneously though as I am not in front of the computer 24 hours a day smile

Google Custom Forum Search

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
