Dear Admin,
Given the circumstances that have befallen this forum over the past year, I think you are going to find a dramatically decreased level of participation in this forum (actually, it's been down for quite some time). This isn't because we aren't agents, but we have learned the lesson of what happens when you reveal your identity to certain moderators. If you have questions about this, I'd be happy to talk to you about the concerns that many members have had, have expressed and continue to have.
This used to be an active, vibrant, useful forum - but as Due Diligence mentioned in the shout box, someone has killed the heart and soul of it.
Sincerely, TB
p.s. Who's idea was this new "restricted" forum, and what was the rationale?

I've been a forum member for 4 years. I don't like this restricted forum idea either. Is this restricted forum free?

Perhaps I am in the minority on this one, but I favor the section that contains names of specific BPO and AM companies to be of restricted viewing. In addition, those with under 500 posts simply have to show proof that they are an agent. A simple e-mail of your license should suffice, which is the same thing you would do to sign up with a BPO mill or an Asset Manager.
I view the MB to our break room. A place where we can share information and sometimes vent about our experiences. When we starting talking about specific companies, I'm not sure I want that information available to every Tom, Dick and Harry that has access to the site.
Has the MB become "Dumbed Down" in recent years? Not to offend, but I feel it has to some degree. Maybe this will help make posts more informative with contributions from people that truly are our peers, rather than people that could be just anybody.
It is important to note that I feel this way as long as it remains a free forum. If it turns into something that requires fees or payments, then in that case I would say leave it alone. People that have been here for any extended length of time already network within the MB via private means, so I think adding a fee will not work, nor would I want it to.

A fee is not being considered. A few years ago many were pushing to make the forum private and to charge a fee. That was rejected as it goes against the founding principal of this forum which was for the FREE sharing of information and networking for the benefit of the Realtor participants. See A Brief History Of These Forums for more information on how the forum came to be. You may also want to check out this 2007 thread for some information about the BPO and REO forum's history. http://www.agentsonline.net/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/170071/1.html

The forum is free.
In the interests of expediency I am assuming that all those that are Veteran Members (a level reached at 500 posts) are real estate agents and automatically have access on that basis. So, you have access. I just tried to access it with no success.....can you help me out?

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
