I want to build a few regression models for properties that have sold in the portion of the county where I farm. Does anybody know of a way to export sales data, specifically sales price, address, and sale terms (REO, short sale, presale, resale, etc.) into excel format? I started inputting a few properties manually and quickly discovered that it would be a ton of headache-inducing busywork. Thanks!

I am going to bet they won't let you do that... better check your mls participation rules.

Please let us know what you find out...

It really depends on the MLS and what system they use. In CA, they used Tempo, and I could download just about anything into an Excel file ( I am a numbers guy).

Here in Portland, the data is very restricted. I have to do some crazy things to get what I want.

My MLS uses Innovia. Now that I have figured it out, I have created a few custom searches with the data I want to track. Making an Excel spreadsheet is done right from within the MLS. It's an easy matter from there to determine median prices, average DOM, and whatever else you might want to figure out.

We use Matrix with the NW MLS and it doesn't have such built in excel options. The best I can do is "select all, copy, select all and copy, grinding the data out one page of fifty properties at a time. After that, I have to use a special method (probably similiar to Spartacus') to get it all the copied data into readable excel format in order to manipulate it into graphs, charts and regression models. cry

Does anybody know of a quick and dirty way to export data on hundreds or even thousands of properties at a time?

We have Innovia also and I think it is a great MLS system. Very easy to run data with the built in features.

Matrix does offer an export to a .csv option. Of course, I can't remember how I did it at the moment! Call the tech line and they can explain it. That's how I figured it out last time. It wouldn't quite work for what I needed but sounds like it could be a solution for you.

Thanks for the tip Gayla, I'll give that a try. Nice to know somebody around the corner is reading some of my posts wink

Although it is too late for the original poster, but somebody else might have the same question. There is an Internet Explorer extension that exports web pages data into an Excel spreadsheet. It was originally developed for Australian appraisers as a data collection tool for building regression models. It can be downloaded at http://datatoolbar.com.

It should be easy to figure out either way, as long as your board has a data feed and reciprocity.
