So ive had my license for one week. In that time i've taken out two people I met in the last couple days, and had one try to put in an offer (credit issues). Also took a listing from a short sale referrel and got a call that someone is preparing an offer. I have appointments to show for two other people i know next week, am working with a prospective renter and have two prospective listings from SOI that i'm trying to get signed up.

My question- is this how it normally goes with the agents who do 3- 6 deals their first year, or am I doing pretty good (like I feel I am)? I just can't imagine what doing 3 deals a year feels like businesswise... are they doing a lot of work and just not getting to closing, or are they spending most of their time hoping for clients?

I think you are doing great! Keep it up. You obviously are treating your business like a business.

I think you need to keep making those contacts and working them until they are finished. sounds like a teriffic start. Those contacts are the key for sure. Set you scope a little higher..instead of 3-6, try for 6-10 deals. Examine your prgress after 3 months and revise your goal upward if it is warranted.

Behave exactly like a 747 on the runway. Bust it hard (full throttle) and get off the ground and then climb, climb climb. Once you reach altitude, then you can ease off on the throttle.

Keep up the great work with those new contacts.

You are doing awesome. Most first week agents would still be selecting a fancy business card. Keep up the pace. Your first closing will double the wind in your sails!!

Lol- it's funny handing out your broker's business card because yours still haven't come in the mail :)

Funny story though, was waiting for my client to show up at the property the other day, and I notice a woman driving slow looking at the for sale sign-so I ask her if she wants to see inside. Turns out it's not really what she's looking for, but I'm taking her out next week to show some that I think will be more suitable.

That's the way to do it! If you can make 1 new contact per day you will do very well. I like the fact you are not afraid to just do it.

Just keep taking daily action and you will start to see some results soon.

I just wonder if this means i'm on a good path though...i FEEL like I am, but was wondering if it is the same for all those agents who fail.

Picking up the leads, filtering the leads, and then closing the leads to get a check is a whole other business.

You are doing well but the art is getting them under contract and too closing. To many agents get leads but they never go anywhere.Filtering the leads through a qualification process will save time and make you work with highly motivated serious buyers and sellers and will improve your close ratio.

In my opinion setting goals for yourself will help you exceed your expectations of your business. When I was attending Real Estate classes, when asked why we were doing this almost everyone had a silly reason me and another gal said we want to make a million dollars! That is what it is all about.
