I have been a licensed sales agent for two years. I would like to try property management now. I have seen a few ads in the paper and other places where owner needs a property manager for big apt complexes. They offer decent pay, but to be honest I don't know anything about property management. I was wondering if any of you knew of any online education classes that I could take that would help me understand how it works, and also to look better on my resume.

Try www.irem.com or www.narpm.net for classes. I can't vouch for any of them, but they deal specifically with property managers. I think your best bet would be to work for a property manager first, or receive training from someone local that's got plenty of experience.

It can be a lucrative business if you are business minded, organized, and deal well with people (even difficult people).

If you plan to manage 1- 4 family property then I recommend that you join NARPM (www.narpm.net). They have several designations and classes that were very helpful for me. If you expect to manage apartments then join IREM and your local apartment assn.
