I am looking to become a realtor in the Las Vegas area and was looking for hints and tips. If I understand the rules right you must take a 90 hour class or 64 college credits. I am looking at taking the 90 hour course. Does anybody know of good schools in Las Vegas? Also once I complete that I go and take the test correct? Once that is done I find a broker and go from there? Anyone in the las vegas area on here willing to help me persure my dreams? Thank you Cody!

I'm not in Vegas, but you will take your course then you will be taking your State exam to receive your license. I know in Kentucky they make you submit to a Federal background check as well. After you pass the test you'll begin interviewing brokers to see where you feel most comfortable with starting your career.
Best of luck!

Thanks for the info. I plan on doing most of the course at home have a busy work schedule. How do you think they rate vs. inclass? Also when I look at a school pick the one I feel most comfortable with I presume? Do I need to look for if thet are accredidated schools? Or that does not matter? Also I want to do residential and commerical properties. From lands with homes to just land. Do I need to get another license? Or once you have a real estate license you can sale any home?

Personally I opted for in class courses as opposed to the online classes. I felt I would learn better from an instructor being readily available to me and it would force me to show up to the classes every single day. I thought that if I did online I wouldn't be as focused with distractions around me. To each his own though.

I'm just the opposite as DC, I did everything online, but that's what worked for me. In Colorado the online courses also have an option to watch class videos, where the teacher is with a class teaching, and you get to hear the interaction and questions from the class. It really depends on how you learn best. I know some people who could not understand the books at all, so had to do the class time. If you opt for online, see if your school has an option to change to class time if the online doesn't really work for you. Also, a bit of advice, if there is ANYTHING on your record that may hinder your ability to pass the federal background check, get the background check 1st. You don't want to go through all the schooling, only to be denied because of your background check. I know a few people that this has happened to.

I have been wanting to become a realtor for a year now. I have been looking at what courses to take and think I am going to sign up at the Key Realty School as soon as I have the funds. I am hoping to do this on the side and help make some extra money. Not looking to set the town on fire just yet, LOL. I have taken some college classes online and in class. I seem to do better on the online ones as I am rather hard on myself. I do NOT have anything on my record at all, at least I hope not,LOL. Thank you guys and girls. Hopefully in a few months I will be asking how do I find a good broker to learn off of, haha.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
